Ticket tips and Tricks for 2025 festival

Well, well done those who wanted a 'fairer' system. We've all no chance now. I know this sounds very dramatic but....that's the end of glasto as we know it! No more glasto where 99% of people have sat for an hour pressing f5 (in other words really dedicated people who want to go). It's now gonna be full of every Tom d*ck and Harry. I know people may say this is fairer that everyone gets an equal chance, but I think it's better if glasto goers aren't essentially all competition winners.

does it though?  It's still going favour the large organised groups.  There's more randomness thrown in, but if there are lots of people trying for each other - and they are tech savy enough to have multiple devices and multiple IPs,  then I don't see the "average" punter being that much better off.

It will favour big groups on the balance but it levels the playing field.

Can we not use more than one device on the same wifi connection?

You'll both have the same external IP address. If the announcement is to be believed, only one device (on that network) should work

Why not just make it so you have to enter your reg number to get access to the queue? The whole thing is gonna break cause there will still be millions of devices

I definitely think it would be "fair" to pre-load your registration and even payment details ahead of the queue. Then, if and when your get through, it's a question of just pressing "proceed". It even gives you the chance to make sure you've entered all the details in correctly beforehand. Would reduce the stress somewhat.

It can't work that way. Lots of ISPs use CGNAT which means lots of different customers share the same external IP.

I'm convinced it will break in some way like the Oasis sale

Is completely random better for the festival?

I think a large part of what makes Glastonbury so special is the community that has been the guardians of its ethics over the years. "Love The Farm, Leave No Trace", "Don't Pee on the Land", etc.

By making tickets completely random, the knock-on is that you dilute this incredibly important community and the message they fly for the festival.

You’ve got to think that most people aren’t purchasing 1 ticket.

Assuming that there are 210,000 tickets for sale and people are mostly purchasing 6 tickets, that’s only around 35,000 successful queue spaces.

Terrifying stuff

It's more like 135000 go on sale, so around only 22500 transactions of 6 tickets... I've argued before that the max number per purchase should be dropped to 4 to increase the number of potential transactions possible.

I tend to agree. However, from a commercial perspective, the organisation may feel differently, looking ahead. Personally, I think we're in for some significant changes as of 2027's event, changes that may divide the opinions of regulars (I was told of one possible change last night that might seem minor but it definitely alters the landscape from a volunteering standpoint).

Hmm so perhaps not put too much focus on getting my other festival numbers up in between?

Would you put it past them to overlook this?

Plenty of examples of Ticketmaster's new system randomly & temporarily blocking accounts as suspicious recently. Could be just that?

the thing with the old system is that 'fair weather' attendees not overly fussed about going threw in the towel after 5 mins, meaning those who really wanted it had more of a chance further into it.

That’s right, for 2023 I hammered away at f5 until nearly half ten and managed to bag tickets.
Thing is demand is so great now that no matter what system is used it’s going to be a lottery.

As someone who tries every year and has a roughly 1/7 success rate, I think it's actually good news. The current system is weighted towards large groups of people trying together in a co-ordinated way, rather than small family groups. This should give everyone an equal chance

Most likely because that would complicate the whole affair and be equally (maybe more) likely to break just in a different way.
