How can you join the back of a random queue?

Glad to see a change, can't do any worse than the past dozen years (successful once)

It's only random for those on hold BEFORE the sale starts. If you go to the ticket URL after that you go to the back.

I expected a meltdown on here at this news but the hysteria over selling queue spots is a level beyond!

I think im reading a different thread , cant honestly see any hysteria ? several people asking questions and maybe not keen on the idea which is understandable ?

Interesting that they call out QueueIDs. I assume they can check the QueueID against IP history and potentially block transferred IDs, although QueueIT have a support article on how to transfer a queueID to another device sooo...

I assume the 'one tab/device per IP' is fluff though, otherwise anybody on public wifi/in an office are going to get shafted

Oh I do miss the old days 😂 Did this a few times.

I actually wonder what would happen if someone tried it. I think there's an outside chance that Michael / Emily would appreciate the cheek and it'd work.

For the first person anyway. Not for the 3,000 people who heard about it and tried it again the following year.

I dunno, I'm pretty hysterical about it 🙋‍♀️

Nah, more I just don't understand the IT. Like I thought selling a queue slow would somehow involving giving a link to the purchaser, who would then virtually pop up in your queue slot online.

I assume now people who are in the queue enter in your details? Although...couldn't they have done that before?

from what I make out and im not overly techy they would give you a Queue id thats decently placed by sharing it  , or they'd do the lot for you by entering all details youd given previously ... that id would be similar to a link

they have the tech to jump to the front and get you your ticket faster than anyone else. Thats the whole game. You want to get a whole group then you pay up per person.

its just funny that nobody ever thought that all the tactics being used before just slide on over to this? If they were going to truly lock this down they couldve said that your reg number is needed to unlock the queue and nobody else new can register right now. And that they will find out if you are doing multiple devices/browsers on your one reg number.  Along with maybe for the future that See cross check new reg numbers with photos/info and such to not let anyone make a duplicate account with their photo and  even name variance. Also double checking anyone who might update their photo later on right before info cutoff to get around some loopholes. But right, See thought of everything. The exploit next Thurs is going to be magnificent. Most of you really are taking a knife to a gun fight, its admirable.

What is this magical tec to bypass the queue?

Editing your queue position in the page source so you jump to the front, or blocking the call to the queue URL so you avoid it altogether we're the popular methods I know of.

Both are firmly closed off now.....not to mention that Queue-It also offer very effective bot-detection capabilities as bolt-ons.  It absolutely wouldn't surprise me to see GFL/See cancelling purchases that have gamed the queue in some way this year.

Ah thanks. Totally above my skills or understanding. But if closed off then chances are people won't be able to game the system bar having people physically sit in the online queue at different locations then 1st one in?

That's pretty much where I am on it yes 👍

There will undoubtedly be those who have other ideas and methods for getting an advantage.....but it's not without risk.

My thoughts

  • There is 100% a way to game the old system. I was invited into a group who last year some guy got 7 different groups tickets. Not sure how but if you're very tech savvy, you have the advantage
  • Old system meant that once you got tickets, you can try and get other people tickets by just going back in. New system eliminates that
  • This is essentially a ballot. Whatever effort that was required is now dead. No idea how many people actually just give up and whether thats a significant number
  • https://www.somersetlive.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife/glastonbury-festival-2024-how-many-8874703 says theres 138k tickers sold. so if everyone gets 6 tickets, you would need to be below 25000 but reality I say if you're in the first 50000 you should be fine (as a group of six may all drop off of which all have 2 devices so 12 queue spots - very rudimental math)
  • Oasis bot tickets and Glastonbury are a bit different. Oasis are doing it for profit. Glastonbury dont allow transfer of tickets but can still see people selling those services

Overall I hate it

that's exactly it, you'll get people now 'having a go' just because it feels like an easier system.

The regulars generally got in because they stuck out the process for as long as it takes...those not really bothered gave up after a few minutes.

Just another step towards a watered down festival culturally and musically

I do think everyone should have a fair crack at it, but I do agree with the essence of this. Even if not organised in large groups or with any tech know-how the system did reward persistance and the harder you tried the more your chances increased, and I say that as someone mostly unsuccessful. I got for my wife and I just trying on my own last year by keeping on going when looking at twitter most assumed it was sold out (and by drawing on some hard earned experience from previous years when it then kept crashing between registration and payment). My teenage son and his mates got for the 50th anniversary in similar fashion. 2 mates even got coach tickets in 2023 while we were in the stadium watching Man United play in San Sebastian. So for all the theories that it was only tech savvy folk bypassing the queue, or folk in enormous organised groups, that could be successful there are plenty of examples of basic persistance paying off, obviously with a large slice of luck thrown in. But a queue system reduces the persistance element, I think, even if it is very marginal.

I dread ticket sale day but knew what to expect and how long the pain would last but think I am dreading it even more now given the experiences from the Oasis faff.  If going down this road, as others have said then it may as well be a ballot to save us all the pain. Of course if my group gets tickets I may revise my view 😃
