Ticket tips and Tricks for 2025 festival

Easiest way, in theory, to succeed is to get as many friends and family to separately, remotely try for your group. In the previous system this wasn't so good or easy because of all the F5'ing, multiple browsers etc, but all the helpers need to do is log on and if one of them gets through first, they key in the info. So a group of 6, with 2 helpers each = 18. Three times more likely to succeed than your average group of 6. Nine times more likely than a group of 2.

If 2 are trying from the same household is one better using 4G/5G and the other wifi?

Does using 4G/5G connect to an IP address or what is the best way here?

Also, is there any truth in countries being allocated a set amount of tickets?

I really don't buy this idea of the festival having this queueing system forced on them by See. The festival have been so proactive about the registration process, years before any other anti touting measures, have been so proactive in trying to reduce the amount of time they take to sell out etc... I just can't imagine them going 'oh go on then' IF See came along and said 'you have to do this.'

It's not all over the news saying 'Seetickets have changed this' it says 'big change in Glastonbury ticket sale' - the festival will be well aware it's their reputation that goes along with the sale, not the ticket company.

At the end of the day Glastonbury is just one of the events Seetickets handle, and while it certainly does have enough cachet to get special treatment and bespoke aspects, to date that's all been on the top layer - the web application and the registration database. What you're talking about is asking them to change the underlying platform (from their new standard that they've presumably paid a good amount of money to implement). Totally different thing.

On the one hand pleased I wont need to get upset at myself for not concentrating on F5 for the full half hr (or until sell out.)

Now it will just be a pleasant surprise and I can blame someone else.   🤞

Maybe. We don't know for sure - it might help, it might make no difference, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

Any connection to the Internet ultimately involves the client having an IP address of some description. There's probably an exception to that but not one I can think of, and it'd be a really weird niche case.

Almost certainly not.

Yes that will give 2 connections …. If you just use WiFi you will likely only get one queue place that’s the same on both browsers and risk being identified as a bot … although how large the risk is we aren’t really sure

The demographic changed after the “super fence” appeared. Not noticed a massive change since

The demographic of Glasto and most festivals has changed massively since I started going in the 80’s. I don’t think the switch to a queuing system to get tickets will make that much difference in comparison

I think a big issue with getting tickets is that the UK festival scene is bare compared to 10 years ago. I remember around 10-15 years ago you had Bestival with its summer of love before it got sh*t and bankrupt. You had V festival, you had alot more smaller boutique festival.

Lastyear 40 festivals cancelled and I can see why. The cost to run these festivals are massive now. Where else do people go other than Glastonbury

To be fair there are still an absolute ton of festivals. Problem is Glastonbury is one of those bucket list ones for many and increasingly more-so every year especially with how its EVERYWHERE online throughout its duration

This is a concern of mine too!! On the other hand I think the system is actually more straightforward as no refreshing etc required so hoping she’d manage it 🤞🥴

Yeh, it feels a lot easier to ask people to try for you this year. All they have to do is long on the website and keep it running in the background...

I'd go back to THAT bestival in a heartbeat

I missed that one but a friend went to it and convinced me to go the next year which was the year when Prince was supposed to play.

That was the beginning of the end for Bestival.

Even SGP is saying the model is broken so not sure if next year is happening

If you’ve missed yesterday’s announcement, WOMAD isn’t happening in 2025 (Back in 2026, new location).

It's just too costly now days to put on and for people to pay for a ticket.

Would love the government to support in some way as festivals are such a cultural element of the UK

I heard secret garden party was good about 7 years ago, maybe more. I also heard on here that the comeback wasn't a success

No it's not!

If that was the way there would be people starting to physically q days before ticket sale starts.

FFS, there are people with Last Night of the Proms tickets who q for days just to be on the front row!

But for this I can't log-in days in advance to improve my chances.

Quoted out of context.

I wasn't linking the online queue system with physical queuing, in fact it was the opposition. Online queuing is random, for the most part, it will be down to luck.

Physical queuing took effort and planning to increase one's chances. The now-old way of getting Glasto tickets also took effort and planning to increase one's chances. Hence I can see a parallel between the old way and physical queuing.

I'd tweak that a little bit and say there are too many poorly run festivals, most of them trying to capitalise on the current popularity of the culture, rather than put on a quality event. Not only is Glastonbury the vanguard for overall experience, I'd say it's also the best-run. Which is one of the main reasons for its longevity.

Probably true on point 1, definitely false on point 2. Shambala is by some distance the best run UK event I’ve been to
