For one minute I was wondering if this was already speculation a place is in line.

I assume given Luton 2024, the areas around London the least likely destination. Maybe Wales or northern England?

When it's a City of Culture year, they tend to follow that.

So it'd be a huge shock if they put it anywhere other than Bradford.

Probably getting clowned for this but was looking at Bradford - they don't seem to have a park anywhere near the size of the Luton one (stockwood park).

Bowling Park maybe but looks a squeeze in comparison to Luton.

Neither did Hull in 2017 tbf; they chose Burton Constable which is 20 mins out of the city. I remember you couldn’t drive there at all, everyone had to get a shuttle bus from the city centre. All things considered it was rather efficient so wonder if they’ll opt for something similar if as you say there’s nothing suitable within the city proper.

Having said that, I have done what you have done and had a look further afield and can’t really seem to see anything suitable 🤣 I suppose if there isn’t anything in Bradford maybe they could look for a site in Leeds but still favour Bradford postcodes in the ticket application? I’d be pretty bummed out if it was the only City of Culture to not host big weekend

Lister park is huge 10 mins from city centre.

Its almost entirely covered by trees though - the biggest field is about 6km^2, the Luton field used for the festival was around 100km^2

Ah yes, I hadn’t thought of that actually. I hope for Bradford’s sake it can host Big Weekend in 2025, as you’d be pretty bummed out if you were the only City of Culture not to host it. Big Weekend does seem to have downscaled in recent years in terms of stage and tent sizes, so maybe Bowling Park or Peel Park are sufficient enough. But time will tell I guess!

There’s a huge park with loads of unobstructed open green space called ‘Peel Park’ about 15 minutes north of the city centre. It would be ideal for the event. Took this photo when there this summer.

As with the above, its just not big enough.

Biggest field there is 20 km^2, luton was 100 km^2

If you split the stages up a bit it could fit i guess but would be tight!
