Sziget 2025

I just watched some concert footage from Charli's "BRAT" tour, I might be wrong, but looks to me like she does not use a live band. So even though she is a huge booking and a big deal, might still be cheaper than a live band with full kit. I'm sure that factors into the booking decisions, big name for less than a big band. Makes sense.

If the new Sziget Main Stage has a bigger video display (which I assume will happen because of the Anyma booking) then booking Charli is right in line with the new direction.

For my part, Anyma looks like a guy working an office job in front of an IMAX screen. Clearly I am not the target audience anymore, and that's fine, they should go after what twentysomethings want, and they must want Charli performing solo in front of video screens, using collabs for a big pop.

At this point, I wonder if Papa Roach is even playing the main stage, or headlining some new smaller "Rock" stage....

well, dj's don't have a band and they are expensive 😄 so probably they paid a lot for an autotune karaoke show with occasional dancing.

She's supposed to be one of the greats performers live. A lot of amazing reviews from the media, music stars and your general punters.

Totally understandable she's headlining.

I checked the numbers on instagram, the lineup announcement has 260K views, Anyma 132K, Charli 172K and Chappell 468K. It looks like that Chappell is a good booking after all 🤷‍♂️

I mean I’m sure she is a good booking coz apparently she is doing well on Festivals. But I wouldn’t read too much into like Instagram views. This depends on many factors. Also if you look at Facebook, she has abojt a 100 likes, Anyma has 270. On Instagram it’s the reverse. Not necessarily indicative of crowd size either way.

I've actually seen Charli live, she opened for Taylor Swift on the Reputation tour. She did a good job, I thought she would go on to bigger things. Clearly she has, she deserves the headlining spot, just wish there was more of a "live music" vibe rather than "club music".

Looks like Chappell has a live band, so the main stage they are building must be able to accommodate bands, too.

I think the changes have been over played to be honest. I don't see that much, certainly not as much as people think.

Are they going to invest the money? Are they going to get stuck in between the rocks?

Agree. It’s gone from 60/40 split of live music to EDM, to 40/60. They’ve changed the focus towards more EDM, but it’s not exactly become Tomorrowland overnight.

maybe stupid question but isnt it logical that more DJ's are on the line up as they are expanding the night life?

You're probably right but, as I've stated earlier in this thread, it's not right that we should be second-guessing the organiser's intentions. They should be laid out as part of a marketing strategy when creating such a shift.

We have some semblance of an idea because of Leaks but your average punter might well be very pissed off if they've bought tickets and are now wondering if this is the right festival for them.

Maybe I am the only one, but i kinda enjoy that sziget lineup always surprise me (in a good way) with some not so known gems, thats the real purpuse of this festival, to explore new artists, bands and genres, at least for me..  im happy with lineup so far, i am already very excited about chappell, nelly furtado, boris brejcha, (anyma?), blossoms and i would check up the rest artists as well…

What are you guesses for the last three headliners then?

my hopium guesses are as follows

BMTH or QotSA

ASAP Rocky or Prodigy

Post Malone or Fatboy Slim

Do BMTH have a decent following in Europe? I always underestimate how popular they are in the UK because I don't see the appeal. Would much rather we got QoTSA.

Forget BMTH, RaR/RiP and Reading+Leeds are their only shows in Europe this year.

Yeah they headline in Europe also.

QOTSA will probably fulfill there obligations from last year, they cancelled OYA/WOW and have been confirmed for solen. All run through Sziget, so I'd say no.

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question... is the main stage finish time down to organisers or noise restrictions past a certain time?

Was thinking of the possibility of a main stage DJ on after the headline act each night to "expand the nightlife". Obviously that's probably impossible (a. due to budget, and b. contract agreements), but in an ideal world it would appeal to all parties (except maybe the locals🤣).

Wishful thinking? Yeah that's never going to happen

So last year we had nine headliners

Wednesday - Kylie

Thursday - Halsey

Friday - Stormzy/Liam Gallagher

Saturday - Martin Garrix

Sunday - Janelle Monae/Sam Smith

Monday - Skrillex/Fred Again

So that’s roughly split into 3 dance acts, 3 commercial pop, 2 RNB/Hip hop and 1 indie/rock

My guess is:

Wednesday - Charli XCX

Thursday - Central Cee/Tiësto

Friday - Post Malone

Saturday - Hozier/Anyma

Sunday - Queens of the Stone Age/Fatboy Slim

Monday - Chappell Roan
