Biffy would definitely get the 90 minutes - its only shorter on other for acts who have like 2 albums i think?

offered the slot alongside fontaines apparently (who have declined). shite act

 Offered sub or other headliner.

That's a grim set of Subs.

To be honest Yungblud and Jack for two of the 3 subs for me would be ace. I think these days though I'd swap Jack for Biffy but fairly any of the other suggestions put in those slots except for Halsey who I think is a way better choice than Sabrina.

I know Sabrina Carpenter is big, but... I cannot shake this sense that it's one who - fairly or not - will drop off soon enough.

Agree with this, I actually think it would be a horribly poor sub choice but I don't think she'll get sub

Some acts do build up more slowly than others.

Have the 1975 done a smaller stage headline - if they get booked then they would be one?

The xx maybe? not checked.

The dynamic of how acts grow has changed so much since covid that i'm not sure how much it matters. Is headlining woodsies / park that different to being booked for mid other and then going on to do it (ala Dua / Billie)

People used to obsess about this kinda thing a lot, not seen it recently to be fair

Entirely from memory, but weren't Alt-J a slow burn like this?  Played unsigned somewhere early doors, JP Tent around 2013, teatime pyramid 2015, then headlined Other in 2017?  Did they also headline The Park in 2023?

Think the highest The 1975 got was third on Other (2016) and fifth on Pyramid (2014). By the time the 2019 edition rolled around after the fallow year, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships had blown up and they were about to be minted as R+L headliners. Think there was probably no other slot they'd have taken but Pyramid headline at that point.

New Bon Iver E.P was out yesterday.  Got me thinking that it has been a long time since they played Glasto, although Justin has popped up a couple of times as a guest.

Last tour they played Wembley arena and before that headlined an APE day. Not sure where they would fit at glasto now, sort feel like they could still be a sub or other headliner but not sure.  They are similar size to lcd soundsystem,  so maybe? 🤷

Yungblud subbing would go down like a pint of cold sick in the field, would be funny though fair play

Yungblud would go down very well. Radio friendly, would get a big crowd and very good live. Think he’d win over people too.

Considering the gap just put Alanis before Olivia.

Rufus Du Sol has a Gsh so might wanna consider them

Reckon Alanis will be 3rd down like Janet in 2019

I'm going 4th down Saturday.

Something like:

Fred Again

Jack White/Biffy Clyro

Sabrina Carpenter

Alanis

I defintely can't see it being just Fred, Sabrina, Alanis as on paper that's really weak.

Sabrina feels like a nailed-on third down shout in my head, despite the inordinate amount of time she's spent at number one this year.

But price, again, may be a stumbling block.

I genuinely think they've lost the plot if they take that gamble, she doesn't even sing the song she got famous for live lol. 3rd down. If she won't accept 3rd then move along.

Thanks @Ben7amin_  great summary. Several of these I’d be v excited to see.

Think maybe worth adding Scissor Sisters though not convinced they’d be sub level now - there was a discussion about it on one of the threads, and they are active again. Some people thought possible sub. Maybe Raye should be on the list too, or would she just be headline option now.

I don't think if you switched Pulp and Bon Iver put for others say Biffy Clyro and Yungblud you would be that far out.

If you're not one for the first three albums, their Halifax/Victorious sets were near-killer, all filler.

For those well-versed in Clyro tunes, I've always been a bit surprised they've not tossed Woo Woo or Pocket into sets more often. They're not singles, but as throwaway pop tunes, they're energetic blasts.

Was at Victorious and even in the rain, the crowd seemed to love the set. Was pretty relentless and raced through it in 80/90 mins with plenty of hits.

Went to the Blackened Sky and Infinity Land shows and hoping the 78 songs over three nights has encouraged them to mix things up a bit more at the festivals.

If there had been something closer to the middle of the UK, I'd have been chasing it for certain. They're the kind of band who seem delighted to get the chance to dust off some of those older ones, but also feel pretty cautious in further alienating a festival audience by straying too far from the path.

Next year's shows will come with at least two or three new songs included if the album is incoming, and five or six at a minimum if they've released it by then.
