It's a great venue but it's a shame how this is run, compared to the original shows a few years ago.

The Piece Hall really does have a lovely surround internally - Halifax town, not so much - and the acoustics are pretty good to boot.

I saw this old article about Cuffe and Taylor earlier today. Explains a bit about how they got started, their strategy if you can call it that, and why the venues they use work so well (tl:dr people don't get much live music around those parts)
