Vilar has been so sh*tty since last year. they had 2 great editions but completly drop the ball.

any inside info this year?

Since returning in 2016, the organization has gone through a lot of bad times, headliners canceling at the last minute, losing main sponsors, but still remaining.

I have a lot of respect for Vilar de Mouros and Paredes de Coura because they are the only festivals that don't just think about money. Directors of both festivals really like and understand music.

True , even though paredes is a little to indie for my taste i can see the promoter has music integrity.

any names for vilar besides what is known?

It was 65 euros for a full pass when it launched in ‘12.

But then all festivals have increased prices far above inflation.

2019 - Early bird in Porto for ticket holders - 90 €

2019 - Early bird in Barcelona for ticket holders - 150 €

2025 - Early bird in Porto for ticket holders - 130 €

2025 - Early bird in Barcelona for ticket holders - 199 €

In Porto, it increased around 45%, but you have less bands now.

In Barcelona, it increased around 32%.

It shows how Porto has becoming more and more expensive, delivering less, in my opinion.

Vilar de Mouro usually gives you what you least expect. But I don't know anything... when I do know, sometimes it's the day before.

They will take names from Pukkelpop, Highfield Festival and W-Festival.

Not only you have less bands in Porto but the quality also is worse. And yes, Porto had pop and commercial artists before. 2018 edition was amazing for me, I paid 105€ and they had Lorde, Nick Cave, Tyler The Creator and many more artists. Jamie XX was also there, and since all he did was that he released another normal album and now he’s a headliner? Central Cee a headliner? The undercard is quite nice and I really like the undercard this year but 180€ for the undercard and Charli? I’m glad I got the early bird for Barcelona just for 20€ more but I will be able to see Twigs, LCD and many more (if they don’t overlap ahahahha)

Early birds for Porto were 130 not 180 euros (if you are going to compare like with like with Barcelona)

For my tastes I also prefer earlier editions and I also agree on the headliners but the undercard is really pretty impressive and I think as such it's fair for the money - beach house, deftones, fontaines, haim, kiwanuka, turnstile, anohni, caribou, denzel curry, floaiting points, parcels, wet leg...

I mean 70€ less for the early bird is still a bit expensive for Porto when you only get 2 of headliners out of 6 from Barcelona (one of them is Central Cee lol), don’t get Ciutat, don’t get special concerts, auditori and more stages. Like my problem is not the lineup itself, it’s FINE. I really like many of the artists and the undercard is pretty pretty good!!! But still I find it a bit expensive for what it is.

I don’t agree with people that complain about Sabrina or Roan not being there, that’s not the point, the point is that for 180€, soon it’s gonna be 200ish€ they could’ve pushed a bit more or make it 4 days like in 2023 (I know they are adding another day later on but it will be probably just a Brunch Elektronic).

I totally agree with all of that and does show the poor relative value, just thought better to compare like with like

portuguese festivals ticket prices have increased a lot the past years, and primavera porto was always a bit more expensive than the others portuguese festivals.

for comparison, paredes de coura is right now selling the full festival ticket for 130€, with no confirmed bands

with the lack of those high production headliners it would be cool that they returned to the previous stage layout, without that new main stage

I suspect that's sadly wishful thinking.

Though I am surprised the locals have gone along with that stage. I always stay in Matosinhos and the buildings are f**king vibrating while that stage is on

The thursday will be a clash hell for me.

The friday has all the stuff I wasn't intending to check. Well, I guess some on spot discovery will be okay.

The saturday will be another clash hell, specially that second and third line.

Saturday has many Portuguese bands that only sing Portuguese.

line up for the 15th is new?

unfortunately the line up looks way weeker with the day splits

2024 already looked a bit empty, specially because they probably spent all the money on Lana, SZA, Pulp and The National, but at least there was some depth to it.

This year it seems super empty, and the headliners are much worse than last year. Specially if there are some clashes that will even make it worse. Everyone has an opinion and mine is that this is the worst lineup (for me) in many years for Porto.

A band like LCD instead of Jamie xx as headliner, and adding the likes of Twigs instead of Central Cee and a couple of others would make this much much better. At least they got Deftones and Kiwanuka that are amazing but still feels short.

2025 will be my first time attending this one so I'm trying to ignore the negativity!

I think it's a decent line up, like others wish we had someone else from the Barcelona line up (LCD or Chappell would have been ideal) headlining instead of central cee but generally there's plenty there that I like.

I think the day splits seem reasonably balanced with the Friday perhaps being the weaker day.

Does someone usually have a go at doing a clashfinder for this? I can see some from previous years so presume yes?

you will have a great festival! very well organised, beautiful location and still great bands! after the f**k up with justice and the cancellations last year it probably was the same quality like this year.

No doubt headliners are weaker than last year. Having LDR, The National and Pulp really would have driven sales. Saying that though, i think only the Lana day sold out. It will be interesting to see whether the change of approach (which i assume is intentional to have a stronger undercard but weaker headliners) leads to zero sellout days this time around. Whilst Charli XCX is the biggest headliner, i cannot see the other two selling tickets. They went big (or popular) on headliners for Barcelona and it has paid off.
