Can anyone shed any light on what arriving on the thursday is like (all 6 of us so n one to take in our tents etc) is there actually space available anywhere. Do they keep campsites back for thursday folk. half 8 bus from bristol so should be there sharp

There’s campsite advisors just inside gate A that should be able to tell you where there’s spaces. Lime kiln used to have reasonable spaces on Thursday but not sure nowadays. Sites on the periphery will also have spaces that might allow you all together

We are going Thursday too. Was plenty of room at lime kiln and hitchen hill on Thursday this year so I'm not worried. Nothing happens on the Wednesday anyway really so be more fresh when the festival proper starts

First year of the dance tent if I remember correctly

It was. We were camped near it and it was bloody noisy, not least because we were also surrounded by multitudes of other unofficial sound systems that blared out thumping techno throughout the night.

Was an interesting Glastonbury that year, probably one of my favourites

Late comer to the party but I’m in. A first timer, mature-aged, one and done perhaps, and I am flying solo — my wife isn’t keen on gigs and festivals generally, especially after Covid. Have been tempted to attend Glasto for a long time, but I’m not for an all camping festival. I love music festivals but have always stayed hotels, B&Bs etc.

After years of admittedly half-arsed, failed attempts, I managed a coach ticket this time. My ancient iPad did the job and I got a message, “BOOKING COMPLETE”, at 18:20. Couldn’t believe it. I don’t belong to a group of any size, tried completely by myself — the new system certainly worked for me. I feel a ballot (if that’s the word for it) is much fairer, and more accommodating to a solo traveler like me. The result proves it. Have to make do with the Thursday departure instead of the preferred Wednesday, but it is a minor gripe as compared to the joy of finally making it.

Congratulations! I have no idea what you class as a latecomer. I was 43 when I attended my first festival in 2005. I wept as we left and have attended every festival since. Working it, winning tickets and joining a syndicate have helped me achieve this. I hope you have an absolute ball! 🥳🎶🍻🎊🎉

This will be 40 years on the bounce, which by my CSE grade 1 maths is 32 times, discounting the fallow years, pandemic etc.

Several of my early years were down to someone who sadly passed away this year, then a batch were courtesy of my dear old Dad who was able to snaffle a couple each year, but since then it's all been pukka, including one or two years over the counter from a record shop.

Then there were many times in the past where I got by with information shared here - eg secret sale tips etc back when they were a lovely thing.

Since the pandemic I wouldn't have got in but for lovely members here.  @mjfiddy @Crazyfool01 @gigpusher and this year @Simsy have all enabled me to attend the event that, as with so many of you other folks, is one of the defining things of my life.

Big hugs to you all, may those of you who are still trying for yourself or others on Sunday be fruitful.

Let's have a great year x

Welcome to the party! Congrats on getting a ticket. I’m sure you’ll find things you’ll love - there’s so much to see and do. The site is vast though and I’m not sure staying in a B&B or hotel will be easy but if you want a quieter spot at night and you don’t mind paying a bit more you could check out some of the pitch your own/pre pitched sites really near the festival (eg Love Fields or Holt Farm which are next to Ped Gate C and D) or the festivals own pre pitched tents (Worthy View or Sticklinch).  Others may have other suggestions.
