So I'm not going to Glastonbury and it's fine

A thread for those of us who didn't get tickets to commiserate and perhaps talk about other plans. In all seriousness I haven't had a sniff of a booking page since 2019 and I am surprisingly okay with that. We've just booked Bearded Theory tickets and I think I am going to go for End of the Road too (had a great time there a few years ago). What are you guys upto?

In two minds as to what to do.

Might try for the resale, but also considering trying something different and avoiding the potential resale heart break.

Maybe Beatherder or Lost Village.

Or a string of day festivals and have a break from camping!

Already have tickets for All Together Now (highly recommended if you fancy a festival in Ireland! Run by the folk that started Electric Picnic, so it’s a nice chilled festival, and a big site for the attendance size with a lot more than music on offer…rumours for this year look pretty good, but it’s been excellent every time apart from the wasps in the 2nd edition!). Mulling primavera or Werchter as well. Been to both before, enjoyed them, but not mad on the car park setting for Primavera Barça. Actually sent an email to Yurtel after the sale this morning, though don’t know if I would actually go that far for a Glasto ticket (maybe, would definitely pay hospitality price, but with the accommodation it’s pretty spicy even for their cheapest option).

We’re taking a break from it next year anyway, so haven’t missed out on tickets. Got a few gigs lined up that’ll involve staying away (including Bruce in Manchester, ELO at BST), and a USA fly/drive straight after. There’s talk of other festivals, but whether anything come of it 🤷🏼‍♂️

Got to 6 bars then it sold out. Haven't been since 95 so thought it was time for a revisit 😁

Going to Bearded Theory solo and Beautiful Days with my family and will have a lovely time there instead, plus the smaller sites suit me with my old legs and bad memory 👍

Am I disappointed not to get a ticket? Yes! I haven't felt this angry & sad since the Brexit result 8 years ago! It's the hope what kills you lol

Not meant to be, but I genuinely hope those who were successful have a brilliant time x

5 of us with no joy.

Obviously wanted to go but not much I can do about it. I am lucky to have been very one since 2010. Mrs Fay even won tickets one year.

The last three years our gang of five we have had brilliant festivals.

Might well just pick another one closer to home and we can plan and get excited about it. We have realised that whilst Glastonbury is f**king great a lot of our fun if often just sitting off at bars and having a laugh by the tent. Something you can do anywhere. We have also started enjoyed the smaller stages with more fun new acts to discover.

I am not sure I can be arsed looking at two bars again twice in April.

I will miss the excitement of announcements and being underwhelmed when the poster comes out ha ha. Creating a clash finder that I never stick to.

So there is a tinge of sadness this afternoon but also thinking how lucky I am to have the many memories of Glastonbury past.

That walk from the car nearly killed us last year and we were thinking of glamping this year if we were lucky. I am 51 now and that car walk is ruthless despite me being fitter than I have ever been.

Oh and the car journey home on Monday is something I wont miss, driving or not driving.

So overall yeah I am at peace with it. The festival has changed since I started going in 2010 but is still a wonderful place with many wonderful people.

To those of you who have tickets and especially the first timers enjoy every moment as you never know when it will be your last festival.

Also unsuccessful after a good straight run of 10 festivals. Will miss loads of stuff but won't miss the walk in or the drive home. Looking for suggestions of alternatives that are like the chilled side of Glasto rather than places like Reading/Leeds? Might think about volunteering if I can't do my usual festival with my mates. Would be interesting to see behind the scenes. 4 tickets in the resale stuffs us as a group of 6!

Didn't try this year so no early morning sweat.  However I failed earlier this year with my preferred second choice festival Green Man.  That sold out as quickly as Glasto.  Settled for End of the Road to try for the first time, which many have said is close in vibe to Green Man.

I'll also aim again for Upton Blues, which is a delight.  Not sure whether to go for Wychwood, which has always been the start of my festival season.  A bit of a let down last year.

Unsuccessful again this year. First Glastonbury was 2011 and we were lucky with tickets every year up until 2023. 2019/2022 got in the at the resale.

Already booked Bearded Theory and will be going to Krankenhaus again. We will probably try in the resale but with all the talk of hacks to bypass the queuing system I am not holding out much hope. Started thinking about alternative options, possibly a European festival or a chilled week in Portugal.

Didn't get tickets last year so went to Boomtown instead and it gave me a new lease of festival life , I think you can get too wrapped up in Glastonbury and it stops you exploring new ventures ,I still love  the place to bits but its not my be all and end all anymore , didn't get thru this morning and already got Boomtown tickets for next year so no tears shed

First time trying for Glastonbury since 2016.  I've had great times at other festivals since my last visit, so wasn't too troubled I missed out this year.  Will probably try another smaller one.  As an earlier poster said, you can get too hung up with Glastonbury.  I've had great times at all the other festivals I've visited

after the festival this year I'd pretty much decided that was probably going to be my last Glastonbury.

Same deal here.  If this year was my last, then it was a great way to bow out.

Went every year from 1994-2016 (except fallow years obviously). Failed for the first time in 2017. Went overseas while it was on because the thought of not being there was too much. Failed in 2019, Succeeded in 2020 (2022), didn't try for the last couple. I want to do it again occasionally so I think I might try every year from now on because it's likely to take a few attempts.

Missed out today and Thursday but I'm weirdly ok with it. I made peace with the fact that it might be more difficult and chances are slim but I have to say, the vast majority of my wider group were successful, so maybe it was pretty much the same as the last few years?

I've been so lucky to have attended every year since 2008. This year was just Sunday only because I had to reprioritise some things. A much condensed experience but not only was it an incredible 24 hours (in some ways more fulfilling than some entire weekends), it gave me a new sense of perspective on my time attending the festival drawing to a close. I've had similar thoughts before but this gradual exit seems like a good way to ease off gently. Currently, I'm convinced I won't be trying in the resale. I might have the option to work again but today if I got asked, I'd probably turn it down. Sunday ticket is also an option but again, right now I'm not feeling it. We'll see.

This is my first time trying for tickets and being unsuccessful and I've been 12 times so I've done well and very grateful for my times on the farm. It was a last minute decision on Thursday to try as my other half is going to Boom in Portugal for 2 weeks in July. I'm very involved in our ticket groups and got loads trying for me. We were almost there on the booking page when it sold out. I've not given up hope yet and will be trying for volunteering and resale as well as competitions. The silver lining is I've just booked flights and accommodation to go to the new Balance Festival in Croatia in August which I couldn't have justified if I'd just got Glasto. So it's something different and won't require me to be looking at the weather every 5 minutes. So I'm feeling better than I thought I would be

I’ve got similar thoughts. I last went in 2022, and whilst I really enjoyed it, and the Macca headline was an all timer for me, overall I felt like I was going through the motions. We tried unsuccessfully in 2023 and I was gutted to miss out, especially on the resale, but ended up doing something completely different instead and being glad it’d happened that way. I ended up not bothering for this year or next, and looking at the rumours for 2025 I have zero FOMO at the moment. That said, I do hope I can find my Glasto mojo again, I suspect I will, but I’m happy doing other stuff at present
