What's changed?

Ketamine and coke are the in drugs rather than mdma and pills. People's behaviour has changed accordingly.

Visually the site is so much more interesting, except the lost alleyways of Shangri-La - much missed.

Nonsense. There's just as much MD as there every was. Probably more coke but I don't know anyone who does coke. And I think most people see people doing bumps and think it's coke when it's actually happy loved up people who can do K and still be sociable.

There's less acid than there used to be but probably more mushrooms barring a few years.

I’ve often wondered about folks doing bumps as to whether it’s coke or K (both are sh*t drugs) as it’s impossible to tell at a distance. Often thought it must be K as who can afford that much coke.

Fwiw I don't think all the coke takers are habitual, they're using it to power through a mad weekend that would otherwise see them on their arse by Friday. It works but also makes them self absorbed and judgy.

I'm sure there's still plenty of MD and pills around, but youngsters can't afford it and swapped it out with K. Had a good chat with an unnamed user of this forum about it at Levels last year. Sure many are still chill but by 11pm the zombies start to come out cos they've been at it all day. They don't dance, they don't talk, they're really boring.

Govt data suggests coke use static, ketamine and other psychoactives up, ecstasy down (retrospective data so perhaps not totally concurrent):

True

When was the last time the predominant smell at a stage or venue was weed.

Sad sign of the times and part of the reason why the vibe is changing for the worse.

Too much alcohol, coke, NOS and Ketamine.

Not enough weed, LSD, mushrooms and MDMA

Weed is so hard to buy at the festival. Everything else seems easy to get hold of, but a nice joint at the end of a night is tough to organise.

Used to be able to by dope cake of little old hippy women at the Stone Circle , haven't seen that for a while now.

Its easy if you know the right people, but yeah it’s not really on offer.

Problem is there’s CCTV and undercover cops everywhere

I've been going every year since 2007. The main change for me is the openness of the drug taking. So much coke and not even trying to hide it. Also loads of groups enjoying a balloon or two.

It also feels busier since I started going. There are more traffic pinch points which might be to do with numbers or poor stage timings/allocations.

Don't think that the Glastonbury spirit/vibe has changed.

The amount of NOS waste we find as recycling crew is beyond ridiculous

I didn't go last year, but here are all the more specific changes I can think of other than the vibe or drugs:

* Arcadia has moved to near the bottom entrance to The Park. It's also now a dragonfly rather than a spider.

* There's a Co-op now, near the Other Stage. It doesn't sell alcohol.

* The Other Stage is now massive.

* Various sound system upgrades, most notably repeaters in W Holts and Other.

* A new area has opened up called The Woods. It's basically just some woodland with decorations in the trees.  Sometimes there's a bar/food stall in there. And I think there's a treehouse or some walkways up there, but nothing major. It's very chill.

*John Peel Tent moved out, to a new field near The Woods and was renamed to Woodsies. There's also a tent in that field called Tree Stage, but I've not been to it, since it was only introduced last year.

* As mentioned, Silver Hayes has completely changed. It's much better. The markets on that side of the festival have been rejigged several times and you'll potentially get a bit lost in that part.

* The Beat Hotel is gone, but replaced with a similar venue in much the same area.

* Block 9 has two fields, one of which contains a _huge_ head that has lasers and projections fired at it.  Photos don't do its scale justice.

* The Temple is much bigger, but is probably harder to get into because of the aforementioned crowd size increases.

* The portaloos are all gone, replaced with more long drops and compost toilets.

* Various things have gone from the Green Fields, such as Fluffy Rock Cafe, Manic Organic and the tent that showed some arty films that I can't remember.

* The Glade area has had several changes over the years, but is currently a massive tent, not under the trees, called "The Glade", a smaller, open air venue under the trees called "Glade Done" and a walkway, bar and viewing platform for the tent, called Spike (I think it also has some DJ sets on in there, but nothing big)

* Williams Green as a venue is gone, replaced by a carhenge sculpture

* There's a pier now called Glastonbury On Sea.

* Single use plastic cannot be bought on site, resulting in a really quite dramatic improvement in litter levels.

I'm sure there's more!

I would say JP not necessarily changed for the better and the best dance village was with east and West tent but levels is pretty decent.

No Milk Wagon anymore 😢

Not as many Abby sh*t suckers either (though can’t remember exactly what year the composting loos really started populating the site). On the flip side compost loos are generally a load nicer than the portaloo turdists of the past.

They'd better not get rid of the long drops
