What's changed?

I didn't go last year, but here are all the more specific changes I can think of other than the vibe or drugs:

* Arcadia has moved to near the bottom entrance to The Park. It's also now a dragonfly rather than a spider.

* There's a Co-op now, near the Other Stage. It doesn't sell alcohol.

* The Other Stage is now massive.

* Various sound system upgrades, most notably repeaters in W Holts and Other.

* A new area has opened up called The Woods. It's basically just some woodland with decorations in the trees.  Sometimes there's a bar/food stall in there. And I think there's a treehouse or some walkways up there, but nothing major. It's very chill.

*John Peel Tent moved out, to a new field near The Woods and was renamed to Woodsies. There's also a tent in that field called Tree Stage, but I've not been to it, since it was only introduced last year.

* As mentioned, Silver Hayes has completely changed. It's much better. The markets on that side of the festival have been rejigged several times and you'll potentially get a bit lost in that part.

* The Beat Hotel is gone, but replaced with a similar venue in much the same area.

* Block 9 has two fields, one of which contains a _huge_ head that has lasers and projections fired at it.  Photos don't do its scale justice.

* The Temple is much bigger, but is probably harder to get into because of the aforementioned crowd size increases.

* The portaloos are all gone, replaced with more long drops and compost toilets.

* Various things have gone from the Green Fields, such as Fluffy Rock Cafe, Manic Organic and the tent that showed some arty films that I can't remember.

* The Glade area has had several changes over the years, but is currently a massive tent, not under the trees, called "The Glade", a smaller, open air venue under the trees called "Glade Done" and a walkway, bar and viewing platform for the tent, called Spike (I think it also has some DJ sets on in there, but nothing big)

* Williams Green as a venue is gone, replaced by a carhenge sculpture

* There's a pier now called Glastonbury On Sea.

* Single use plastic cannot be bought on site, resulting in a really quite dramatic improvement in litter levels.

I'm sure there's more!

RIP Manic Organic.😢 Was always my favourite place to eat.

Not as many Abby sh*t suckers either (though can’t remember exactly what year the composting loos really started populating the site). On the flip side compost loos are generally a load nicer than the portaloo turdists of the past.

Yeah, they seem to be, as long as the sawdust supply is plentiful.

As well as the things already mentioned - changing drug use, vibe and changes to the areas; another one for me is the fact that people don't hang around their camps anymore. Used to part of the fun getting to know neighbours etc but people now usually seem to prefer milling around the main areas including on Weds/ Thurs... probably a reflection of more happening in the run up to the main stages opening and late at night and the change in vibe generally ie its a lot younger than it used to be.

Also the absence of fires, in camps and also across the festival. I used to love the smell of fires. The festival still provide fire wood, but by Saturday there was still a big pile on the old railway track this year where that would've been gone by midday on the Wednesday 10 years ago. Though the glade have a fire going by the main tent - with a big fence around it.

Was it on a later map, or am I missing something?

It was so long, this map has cut off the info.

The map on Glastopedia has it on their version of the 2011 map, so maybe be was a late addition.

Unfortunately that’s not allowed in the camper fields. This is buried in the Ts&Cs

’Open fires are not permitted. Small barbecues can be used in these fields, but they must be at least 3m away from any vehicle and must be on stand or off the ground.’

That's what we use, a small metal domed bbq which is raised off the ground
