We bought a 4 Metre canvas bell tent about 17ish years ago from a glamping company at the end of the season. It's been used at around 50 festivals and numerous garden gatherings. It's still in top nick and has been through some biblical festivals and monumental piss ups.

 

We think it was 240 quid.. but memories are faded..maybe actually 200 quid.

Convenience. Being separated from the plebs just gives people an easy feeling. My girlfriend sorta felt the same way. She had camped plenty at festivals so that wasnt the tough thing. It was just having somewhere quiet to be and shower access plus an extra layer of safety. It was worth it 5 years ago when I got WV for 300 on a 2 person scout. Now it being 50% more expensive makes it tougher. I mean they have to make their money one way or another but I wonder whats gonna happen when its 600 for the weekend just for the basic tent and nothing more is being offered. Are they just trying to stay semi competitive with the outside glamping sites or is it just that expensive to operate now. Right now at Coachella they offered a new pre pitched camping option. Its $650 usd and you get a 3m x 5m pitch. The tent is 3x3m and it includes 2 air mattresses , 2 sleeping bags, 2 pillows and a battery operated lantern.  All of it is custom and is yours to take home as a souvenir afterwards. Parking pass is also included in the price. The area its located in also has separate showers. It sold out in pre sale. There was also a new car camping option that allowed you to have access to an electrical outlet on your pitch and that sold out in an instant. 

 

I def would do WV again but I am alone this time so its likely leaning to camping normally. Ill just have to lock up some more of my stuff but thats not the worst thing.

The prime reason is that the car park is 5-10 mins walk from your tent. That’s it. When you’re 60+, the walk from the outer West car parks to the camping sites lugging all your stuff in blazing heat/pissing rain just isn’t easily do-able. At £225 each for a 2-man scout (£45 p/day) it’s worth every penny. Glastonbury is basically an annual holiday.

My Dad is 67 and this is his final Glasto. Carrying his tent/clothes/cider to the campsite from the car isn't going to be easy for him. We also haven't been since 2009 and no longer have tents. For us, it's a no brainer to try to get into sticklinch. Will make his final Glasto experience more enjoyable, for a reasonable price.

I’ve never done it before but I’m thinking of trying for a camper van pass.

 

Does anyone know if you’re alllowed to pitch a tent next to your van (within the pitch space) for others to sleep in, if you arrive separately?

 

is there some sort of wristband for the camper van fields, or can anyone access it?

 

Do you have to go through the usual pass out/ticket/wristband palaver every time you go through gate C, or is there a different system here?

We've done Holt Farm, Hospitality, General Camping but never taken our motorhome so we're going to try for East General today! Other than the Quiet part, is the a big difference between east general and east quiet?

East Quiet is closer, so less of a walk into the festival of a morning and, perhaps more importantly, of a night time. I don't think I would say it's any quieter particularly than East General. We were in East General this year and I considered it quiet.

 

But, yeah, basically the same as far as I can see -- I haven't stayed in East Quiet, but walked through it a lot this year!

This is interesting! Less of a walk is positive. Perhaps we need to try for East Quiet. We are still deciding whether to take our 3 and 7 year old child.

Yes you can pitch a tent next to your van. So long as you're within your alloted space. Keep in mind though that anybody arriving separately from the van will also need a CV pass to get in. I guess if you went to meet them you could blag it or they could enter the CV fields from the main site once it's open.

 

No separate CV wristband. The CV fields are outside Pedestrian gate C where you get wristbanded on your first entry. Every time you go out after that you will get a pass out ticket so you can get back in.

if others are arriving separately by car they will need a car park pass, park in the designated car parks and walk to the cv fields (depending where they park could be a long walk and not through the site on Tuesday) you only need  a cv pass if driving a caravan/campervan into the cv fields.

you can pitch a tent within your pitch if it fits.

I don't think that's true Joe. Only one pass per vehicle is required. There are loads of people who come in through the cv fields on Tuesday night to wait for pgC to open. They are allowed in without cv passes.

Apologies if already mentioned but make sure you get the sticklinch parking pass when you book the tent. The car park is much smaller than it was and sells out quickly.

Thanks for that! So... loads of opportunities to lose either your ticket or pass out and really make a headache for yourself then... 😂
