Thought I'd see if anyone else has any fond memories of walking past a reasonably small tent and recognising the sound coming from inside...

 

I've seen Ed Sheeran doing a belter of a set to about 200 people.

 

Also just missed this but the voice was immediately recognisable..

Wasn’t a secret, but Hot Chip lead singer Alexis Taylor in the Crows Nest this year was a gift. Stumbled in looking for shade from the afternoon sun

Olivia Dean Strummerville this year was good. She basically just took requests for 45 minutes.

Not busy either due to the fact that almost everyone else on site was at Shania Twain then Avril.

I remember Biffy Clyro giving out little flags to advertise theirs, same year I think?

 

Then 2011, the first year the internet seeps through to the festival, it ends up being Pulp and Radiohead and EVERYONE knows

I had literally just left WH bar 5 minutes before they came on stage unnanounced. Waking up the next day to my friends saying I missed Ezra Collective and it was an all timer was a real kick in the teeth.

 

As far as others go... on the walk from The Last Dinner Party to Kasabian this year I happened upon Arlo Parks at BBC Introducing, to a pretty small crowd. I guess they did a great job keeping that a secret. Also heard Loyle Carner's rabbit hole set on Friday night in 2022, but there was no chance I was getting in

I remember stumbling into a tiny venue in Shangri-la one year to find Jarvis Cocker singing common people. Can't remember the year, back when the alleyways were there and you could find all sorts of weird stuff behind hidden doors.

I saw Fatboy Slim play Maceo's staff bar in Block 9 in 2013, a friend not at the festival was watching out on Twitter for any secret sets.  There were only about 100 people in there. A password was needed to get in (we weren't staff) and we took a guess at Eat Sleep Rave Repeat and it worked!  🎧😂

Big Thief at Crows Nest to about 40 people who were all die hard fans. Absolutely astonishing.
