Talcroft
Someone in here alluded to some 'local issues' leading to this happening a year earlier than expected (four year stint rather than five)... Can anyone elaborate or is it particularly sensitive?

I would have thought that having just one festival in the five year period from the end of the 2017 festival to the start of the 2022 would have allowed significant recovery to take place on the ground which would have allowed a longer run without a fallow year, but seemingly not. As I understood it, the intention was for a 5 year run after the covid years. This has of course changed now.
Avalon_Fields
It’s very understandable. I’m sure 2027 will be a massive celebration in recognition of everything accomplished

Yep, but loads of people here still thought they wouldn't go back to a pre-2012 pattern of 4 on 1 off and would definitely have the fallow in 2028 because football (even though it had already been announced for 2026)

But I don't believe anyone still stuck with that once Emily floated and then GFL had confirmed the 2026 date back in June.
William Mann
Would you say the last festival pre fallow is extra special? Especially as there wouldn't be another for 2 years. Or does it feel kind of rushed and that they're preparing for lots of additions after the fallow? Or is it neither?!

I think there will be some kind of nod to the fallow year in the finale and the messaging from the festival and the Eavis' but I don't think we'll get anything extra next year as such. Some people think that they will save big changes up for the fallow year but I'm not sure there's much evidence of that or if it's just coincidence. Arcadia brought the crane after the 2018 fallow year The SEC reappeared with a one way system after 2012, for example.
