It's grass for the pitches, but with a lot more "proper" roads going around the place so you're likely driving directly onto one.

Its then obviously easier for the toilets/showers but you probably won't need them but the main reason is you can check up on the queues for the bus much easier and choose when to queue up. Nothing worse being far away and after walking 15 mins and going around the corner and seeing a huge queue for the bus. It sometimes took us an hour to get on the bus and nearly 2 hours to get to gate A because of the traffic the Wednesday and Thursday. Friday, Saturday the bus journey took about 20 mins but back to a few hours on the Sunday. Don't leave right after the headliner's as the queue is massive to get the bus home. Maybe go the woodies new venue, I think it's open late. I recommend somewhere not to far though as it's a very long dark walk to gate A at the end of the night. Good luck Edited Friday at 12:30 PM by gazzared

gazzared
3 minutes ago, stuie said: This sounds like a right old pain in the ass... do people actually choose to go here? I think some have to because they're motorhome or caravan are too big for CV East. If you can wake up early and get the bus in at around 8/9 am the queues are smaller. The main problem on Wednesday and Thursday is that there's also a parking at bath & west. So all the campers are taking all the equipment onto the buses which fill the lower deck and you have to sit upstairs and aren't allowed off until all the equipment is taken off again. Basically on Wednesday and Thursday the buses are only half full going in.

Justcalledtosay
Are there any other non-official campsites close by that are specifically good for motorhomes? My parents want to try in the re-sale but won't go unless they can attend in their motorhome. They're getting on a bit now you see.

I've considered it after being towed -in- and out of East fields a few times. But the bus puts me off, perhaps one day, when i'm too feeble to walk up the hill at 5am
