dotdash79
I think the economics of the festival has changed things so it has to be more commercially active. 2024 was a lot more commercial than even 2023, it was a definite step change.

guypjfreak
FFS.. This is a bit hit for the festival it's shows that the changes being made are good... Looks like a slot for some solo or band that's only had 1 or if you're lucky 2 album's out.............,.............,.my point is I believe headliner's should have a really good back catalogue

Badlands
Fuming about this. The festival shouldn’t have put themselves in this position. Not everything has to be televised!

Colorblindjames
The BBC are a disgrace. How can Glastonbury allow them to dictate what artists do?
Colorblindjames
To be honest I think the festival should be looking for other broadcasters or at least open it up for competition. The BBC relationship has got a little bit too comfortable and the BBC news behaviour over their coverage of recent world events makes them no longer an impartial or trusted broadcaster. How can Glastonbury allow them to dictate what artists do? Presumably there’s an agreement that the BBC shows coverage of the Pyramid headliners, and for most artists that coverage is part of the appeal given the well-known relatively modest fee they get. Obviously NY feels differently to most artists, and is sticking by his principles, but I don’t see any disgraceful behaviour from any side

Neil Young probably unhappy with having to run to a time sheet and plan. He does love his 15 minute solos and outros.

Porcelina
Probably for the best. It wouldn't exactly be SZA but can't imagine him even half filling the Pyramid these days.
Crazyfool01
Just now, Colorblindjames said: C4 could do it. Today is the bbc really any different from the other lot anyway. I’d suggest the coverage would be nothing like as extensive as the bbc . For all its faults and some of those being political and board appointed the bbc absolutely provides unrivalled coverage and the likes of some political parties would love to see it broken up . Whilst the festival maintains significant success and charitable contributions due to that coverage
