I'm not missing any point. I think you are. Neil Young fans buy his music and go to his gigs. Glastonbury on TV is not for his fans, it's an entertianment show for people who (mostly) aren't even that interested in the festival. What's shown does nothing to convey what the festival experience is. Neil Young owes them nothing.

in my opinion

I'm a long standing NY fan, buy his music but have never managed to catch a him at a gig. Don't patronise!

with all due respect - just because you have never seen him live, why does that mean that he owes you a live broadcast?

there's a few acts i would say i am a long standing fan of that i have never seen live - i don't believe they owe me anything.

Ah - fair. The 2019 date passed me by.  Usually go see him when he comes north of the border, and the last PotR show was a fair while back.

Indeed, 2016, what a show.

Think a Scottish date this year may be unlikely - very few options for outdoor, non-sponsored events of a suitable size.

Edinburgh Castle maybe? Or Bellahouston?

Kelvingrove Bandstand might be nice but it seems like the "summer nights" series isn't happening, and it's probably too small anyway.

Due to COVID. Before that it was 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2016, then 2019 his last UK date.

That's what I thought. I seem to remember him playing fairly regularly.
I went to see him in Hyde Park with Crazy Horse with a couple of not big fans. I thought it was a great set, but one of my friends was dissapointed saying "I hoped he'd play his hits". I said, "what, like Heart Of Gold" (his only hit really) , which he did play. I think that's what many non fans are like. They think they know a lot of his material, but they don't. Which is what his last time at Glastonbury was like. Lots of die hard fans, but many left slightly bewildered. And it was a fantastic set in my opinion. I remember the stonking version of Rockin' In The Free World, where it kept on ending, then he'd start it up again. Someone I was with just kept rolling her eyes saying "not again!" 😄
