CardiffWanderer
Brilliant news that he's back on. Waaaay back in this thread, some folks were asking for NY recommendations. Well, a while back a friend and me (both huge fans) challenged each other to put together a 12 song Neil Young playlist. A very very tall order, given his 50+ albums (and that's just the official stuff), so we just went for what felt tight for each of us. We came up with very different playlists, but I'd suggest that both would make a good intro to NY's artistry, even if they don't actually feature many of his 'big' tunes. Matt's list: Harvest Moon For the Turnstiles Cortez the Killer Silver & Gold Albuquerque Heart of Gold See the Sky About To Rain After the Gold Rush Don't Let It Bring You Down You and Me Pardon My Heart The Great Divide My list: Barstool Blues Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere Helpless (Live at Massey Hall 1971) Tired Eyes White Line (Homegrown version) Love and Only Love Don't Let It Bring You Down Hangin' on a Limb Revolution Blues Pardon My Heart Alabama One of These Days

balti-pie
I let out a massive ‘f**kING YES!’ when I saw the thingy’s twitter about the flip floppery - it’s just the most amazing headliner I could possibly name, and the rest of the lineup can be wall to wall bollocks and I’ll still be eagerly awaiting it now 🥳 1

Cinnamon Girl and After the Goldrush need to be in there. I'm going to start drafting my complaint letter about songs missing from his playlist in preparation for the summer. Brunty9
Absolutely chuffed to bits. I know it's not for everyone but very few headlines are. The perk of Glastonbury is there is always something elsewhere if you dislike. If you've never heard of them (or him in this case) then you never know with a little bit of listening and research between now and June you might find yourself getting very excited about seeing a band/artist for the first time. Oll678
Well that’s confirmed you do not need to be relevant in the slightest to headline Glastonbury… put Charli on the other and it will all be fine
Tranquility of Solitude
Not certain what constitutes a “relevant” artist. That aside, surely Like a Hurricane has to feature on a playlist?!

Just to clarify, neither of us were claiming to do any sort of 'definitive' NY playlist (if such a thing can exist), just some of our favourites in whatever order we felt worked... I am 63 and never bothered listening to him as I thought it was not me type of listening, I didn't see him when he was last there and I was there that year. I am willing to give these a listen to see what I think, thanks. Of course I'm sure I've heard of a lot of them around, especially given my age .
