Poutine isn’t chips cheese and gravy though, it’s meant to be cheese curds. They’ve got to squeak, it has to be the right texture! Spent a bit of time in Canada and they get extremely uppity about it. And well they should, it’s a wonderful food when done properly.

It won’t be done properly here at a festival im afraid, it won’t be as magnificent as it can be.

I've had it in Quebec. In fact I've only had it in Quebec as I was so underwhelmed by it I haven't bothered since.

The last couple of years we’ve camped in Big Ground. Each morning we’d walk down to the T and C field, so many good options there and minimal queuing compared to the rest of the site.

You can also get an unreal Bloody Mary from the cocktail bar, which is without doubt the best way to start the day.

There is a place in Big Ground, name esacapes me, but its in the middle towards muddy lane that does an excellent breakfast.  I usually eat there a few time per festival.  Also, good to know that the bloody mary is decent!  I've always avoided because there's nothing more disappointing than a sh*t bloody mary.

For me - first meal is always at Permaculture.   They have some of the best food on site if you ask me.

There was a jerk chicken place somewhere in between williams green and west holts that blew my mind in 2023.  maybe just off into the markets? I looked for it in 2024 and while I had some great jerk chicken, I was ultimately unsuccessful finding the same one.  The one I'm thinking of had a massive portion with sides and I will be hunting for it again this year.

I also really like the food at Hare Krishna tent.  I try to have it once per festival.  Love eat the farm.  Miss Ghandi's flip flop too.  Miss No Bones Jones.

I try to get food that I can't get at home; so I stay away from burgers and chips.  I'm not one of those americans that talks sh*t on british food, in fact I really like a lot of it.  I will go out of my way to get british food at the festival.  But I'm sorry, the mexican food in england is really lacking. We're spoiled rotten with incredible mexican food in america and i recognize the privilege lol.

I wonder if the Yorkshire pudding stall opposite the Village Inn/Cider Bus will be back this year? I noticed they rarely had a queue in 2024 after the food poisoning incidents at Download! 🤢

If they are back I’m sure they will be happy with the publicity you’ve given them!😊😉

LOL

@StoneCircleis it even the same one as Download?  there's a few about the festival circuit, or very varying quality!  Actually, the ones i've tried were better the busier the stall and longer the queue.  Not had any food poisoning 🙂

Holy sh*t I’ve never seen such hatred for the Poutine!

Love it and don’t remember queuing for it tbh.

Each to their own though 🤷‍♂️

I eat like 5 times a day at Glasto so have plenty of variety.

Would you say you have a poutine routine?

I'm sure songwriters all over the world have been searching for a word the rhymes with 'routine' 🙂

You know you're getting older when good grub at a festival even appears on your radar. A few years ago it wouldn't even have entered my mind!

Tbf I think there's a consensus it is improving from the old salmonella burgers reputation they used to have.

... I say that, I cannot remember what if anything I ate at Reading in 2011 or if that was also sh*t quality. Unless a large bottle of Coca-Cola counts.

Weren't there multiple identically branded yorkie stalls in different locations last year.  I'm sure I saw at least 3.

Expand

I'm not sure about the branding but there was defo a few about.  We went to the one by Other stage, at the end of the strip closest to Arcadia and it was decent enough!

Yeah, I think that's fair... and not just at festivals either.  We consume loads more street food generally than we used to, so the options and the quality have mostly improved.

Yes same company. Looks like you have been lucky, I don't eat anything that has potentially been reheated at a festival.

Not good with names of stalls, but top 3 last year were the Mezze place at entrance to The Park, a Thai place between Lonely Hearts and The Other that does excellent noodles, and a place in William’s Green that does brilliant halloumi wraps (I’m veggie). Never find anything good around The Pyramid so usually try to get food around other stages

Luardo's was the best Mexican place at Glastonbury but hasn't been there the last couple of years. The other seem so poor / average that I won't bother with them this year.
