hey, stoopid flag-making n00b question here... ;)

how heavy is too heavy for a flag to fly? some of the flags on here look well thin, whereas the material i've just bought is a bit heavier. it's not made of lead of anything, but it's not as light as silk... is it just gonna flop on the pole, or will pretty much anything fly if there's a wind?

(i know i'm been a bit vague, but i don't want to go through the hassle of dying, ironing on transfers, stenciling and stitching to find out i have to buy *special* flag fabric)

cheers

Good stuff, Player. Nice to see it being built up like that. I was going to take work-in-progress photos of my first flag but never got around to it.

How did you print the design? It looks like it's all on one sheet. Have you got some fancy-schmancy A1 printer?

Work for a printers, so luckily managed to hijack the HP large format inkjet. Tempted to make another one (got 2 flag poles that I normally take) ;)

My one question is, how the hell are you supposed to carry a god knows how long pole into the site with 2 crates of beer, luggage, tents etc?

snap the pole in half, and give it to a mate to carry. half the load ;)

spent all day yesturday rastorbating my deisgn up, sticking the sheets together, and then cutting it all out to form a massive stensile. Just need to trace round it on the flag now, and paint it all up.

Will post pics when it's done.

oh... and I was also sorting out some guy ropes, and a method of securing the pole so no one can nick it.
