It is definitely 100% non manufactured I promise, I dont know how to do anything like that. I thought my friends were taking the pee out of me when I picked my pics up from the developers but I checked on the memory card and it was like that on there.

You might not have photoshopped it but the developer might have for a laugh.

Did you give them your memory card? Its easy enough to alter an image then resave it on the memory card.

The two people posing for the photo, by the act of posing are standing still. So there should be no real disturbance of the water round their wellies. However there is, and that's because the boy is moving behind and has disturbed the water. It's all due to angles and juxtaposition of the subjects.

No photoshop.

No mystery

and hate to break it to you like this, but its not a ghost either......good fun though...

Hi all, I've been meaning to stick this up here for ages, it is a photo taken at 2005s festival on I think the Saturday morning whilst wandering around the giant pond. I took the photo of my 2 friends and it wasnt until I got it back that I saw we had an extra addition to the shot!

I remember taking the photo and have absolutely no recollection of him standing there, and he has no legs or body or shadow!

I know logically he is standing behind them and their legs are hiding his legs by a very slim chance but it just looks funny! The way he is standing his pelvic area should be showing by the ladys (louise!) hand unless he has a very short body and very long legs, and hes standing at a bit of an angle so it just looks like you should be able to see at least some evidence he has a body!

Does anybody know this child?! It confuses me every time I look at it, I sometimes wonder if I've stumbled across a glastonbury ghost! Hehe

Anyway just thought I might share it with you guys hope u find it as funny as me

I use Photoshop everyday at work (at the moment I'm making a house out of brochures) and I know it to a boring degree. Using channels will give away photoshopping 95% of the time and there's no evidence. And I can't see any cloning either. I think it's real. The bench thing sounds like a good explanation although aren't they quite deep? The bottom would be visible (they're stone usually, and about 1ft x 1ft x 6ft.

Loving the banter.

I also know my way around PS, when you cut out something of one photograph, it is very very hard to get the perfect edge especially when coming to hair. I reckon the boy was pasted on very cleverly. But if you look very carefully, there is a slight halo effect, where some of the original background of the ‘other picture’ bleeds through on the ant-alias edge. Still, it is very faint – like you say, good banter

Actually, I do think it’s a very good fake

hair.jpg

One of the hardest parts to cut out in Photoshop is hair, notice how the girls hair shows detail behind individual strands and the boys hairline stops abruptly with a slight white halo.

There is a slim chance I’m wrong, but if I had to bet, I would say hoax. Themuel, if we say hi at the meet and you tell me it wasn’t a fake to my face… I’ll believe you.

Whichever, it’s a great thread.

That could be down to jpeg compression. A full-res eps/tiff file will have all pixel data embedded but jpegs are smaller because the compression reduces the pixel data in the file by merging similar adjacent pixels and because it's maths and not art, it sometimes results in visual imperfections like you see with the 'halo'. It can happen anyway due to the camera's setting collecting as much light as it can from anywhere in shot. I must admit, I've done retouching that's almost as good as that (I've been doing it for 10 years) so it could be fake. But I don't think so.

As a slight aside, I think his hair is probably quite damp and it could certainly look smooth especially in comparison to the girls' frizzy hair.

i think the boy is there (not PS), but PS at the bottom where the bench should be. look at the water between their legs, the shadow, does not match the photo
