I am a little worried as I think I have set my son on a very upsetting path. He is 19 amd he met a lovely girl over the festival season. I even paid for her to come to Manchester to visit him, and even spoken to her Dad etc.

She went off to Uni in Dundee and didn't ring my lad for ages. He even rang her family to make sure she was safe. He really is besotted with her, and she is lovely. Christ she gets on with me so all is not bad  Anyway she rang him and said that a long distance relationship won't work and they should drop it. He was devastated when he told me, but he said they are still talking etc. He came down the other day and asked if I could loan him the money to go visit. I asked why, and he said she has asked. I was going to give him a lecture but I paid for his Megabus tickets. 8 hours on a bus he is willing to go. My gut instinct was to tell him to say no, and leave it, but I told him what my heart said. Once he is there watch around him, she how settled she is, but more than that how do you feel when you see her, and vice versa. I really hope this works for him, and i hope he does not get hurt. I think both of them are still coming down off a fantastic summer, but i don't know what position I should take ;) Anyway fingers crossed for them both.

Well that certainly got people's attention!!!

Would you rather I waffled on at 8am about how this time in 24 hours we'd be running into each other's arms at the airport just like they do in movies?

I hope he's like you as his flight is 10 hours

I do suspect he'll be cream crackered though and I'll get a couple of pumps if lucky before he's off to the land of nod
