I got mine in the post a few days ago and still not had a chance to play it yet.

I'm still annoyed about the pre-order extras, if you order it from one place you get 5 extra heros of Damien Wayne, Nightwing, Shazam, Zatanna & Katana (I wanted Zatanna!) or if you order it from another you get 5 extra baddies Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam, Black Manta, Captain Cold & Bizarro (I wanted Gorilla Grodd & Bizarro). This kind of stuff always pisses me off.

I can see both sides to it, games drastically fall in price in recent times, and the pre order bonuses are a smart way for the publisher to promote buying on day one at full whack. On the other hand, dlc is and always has been a con, no other way of saying it.

Lego Batman 2 is a bit different as they have actually introduced new stuff like an open world, voice acting and the charcters play very differently from the others games but I do agree they are pretty much the same game.

I only really pick up the franchises I like (Batman, Star Wars Trilogy and eventually when I see it cheap Indiana Jones) and leave out ones like Harry Potter, Star Wars Clone Wars and Pirates Of The Caribbean alone.

I lost interest pretty quickly though I have with all games recently. Instead I've been switching the pc on to categorize mp3's and tidy my hd's, things must be bad

So is everyone a bit jaded with games then? I thought it was just me.

I just don't feel all that inspired. I guess that's because the middle tier is under attack at the moment - the games that ride that line between old fashioned gaming and bigger budget spectacle are going the way of the dinosaur. Activision closed down Radical this week, which is sad because I would have liked a follow up to that Hulk game, further polarising the industry. It's quite sad because that middle tier developer is necessary for getting interesting new ideas into a mainstream audience, but because companies like Activision want COD-like sales overnight those projects are compromised from the start. It's really annoying that publishers apply top-tier practices (and suffer the costs of that) and then when they fall short of bloated expectation they shutter the studio. Activision were probably instrumental in guiding the direction of Prototype, I'm picturing endless meetings about focus group results (they love those) and forcing design decisions based on out of date market research - no wonder Prototype was such a generic game. And yet, again, Activision wash their hands of responsibility of driving another gifted developer into the dirt. This has to stop.

It's resulting in utterly boring generic games at the top and while indie has great ideas, there's only so many 2D 8-bit retro styled games I can take, and I have to be in a rare mood for chin-strokers like Journey. Where the hell are those games that just hit you like a curve ball like games like Yoshis Island once did? Even Nintendo are a shadow of their creative prime.

What the hell happened?

I've gone back to the old xbox that I modded years ago. It runs Megadrive/Snes/PSX/N64 games with hundreds of games to go after. I've rediscovered some absolute classics that I'd forgotton about. Currently play the click adventure version of Discworld (pc released but released on PSX) with the legendary Eric Idle doing the voice of Rincewind.

The reason? Like you intermated, there's just nothing that seems to be released with enough originality to grab me, I'm sure there are but they're hard to find. The last game I loved was war for cybertron, which at it's best is a gorgeous fan-game, but even at worst can be quite bland and uninspired.

We all got old. I guess it's hard to inspire a generation that's seen 20 years of constant evolution and an explosion of genre types in the last 10.

I have a real hankering for retro game's at the moment. I'd love to get back into C&C but I cant get my First Decade Box set to work on my Mac.

Thinking of C&C, I know they are bringing a new Generals out, but I'd love it to go right back to basics with the first Tiberium and Red Alert games. Update the graphics and AI, and keep it simple. Keep the Tesla Coils, Chronosphere and Iron Curtain and go back to the feeling of the orginal games which had more elements of realism in them. Stick your aliens, your mind control, genetic modifiers, dolphins, etc and lets get back to a dark, gritty C&C. And this goes for games in general. I'm personally sick of Zombies (Half Life excepted), aliens, outer space etc. Lets have some captivating, realistic games.

I think we are in a bit of downtime for games. I myself only just completed AC revelations, which I liked but was nowhere near as good as Brotherhood.

I know its a sequel but the world is crying out for Half Life 3, and I personally cant wait for GTA 5, and Borderlands 2. A new Fallout would be good as well.

But I suppose as far as being jaded is concerned...well I havent even bought Street Fighter x Tekken.

Not too shabby fella, no shocks with the steering wheel value! Coincidentally, I found what appears to be the table clamp for that thing in my loft a couple of weeks ago, didn't even know it existed!
