Hi,

Could anyone tell me what this festival is like for going alone? I went to Glasto but am really in need of another festival this year and End of the Road looks perfect - the line-up is fantastic and it sounds like an amazing weekend. All my friends have been very lame with festivals this year though and I can't realistically see me roping any of them into this one :D

I really want to go, but am slightly worried about being on my own not so much in the daytime, but for the evenings/nights when you really need people to hang out with a bit more...

Lots of thanks for any advice you can offer!

Have all the bands been announced now, or are there still some to look forward to?

I've gone through all the bands that are listed so far, and have listened/rated them or just ruled out the rubbish ones I'm less keen on, and so am just eagerly awaiting the timetable to plan my route of action/ any time clashes.

So far it looks like I will be in the Bimble Inn/Local for the majority of the festial, Garden Stage a fair bit on Saturday, and probably not that often in the Big Top.

I haven't decided whether I'm pleased there are only three stages this time (less clashes/easier to hop from one band to the next?), or if it may be less good (always more of a choice of what to see then/ bands playing longer sets?). But am definitely looking forward to the festival more so now.

i think an efests camp was proposed (no time to trawl through 17 pages) which would be good. I joined in a solos camp at Latitude the last couple of years....it's been fantastic. I'd certainly be up for a similar thing here.

I'm not strictly going to be on my own; I'm taking a mate but he's working as a steward and has to camp in there. There is also a possibility that some people might join us from the Latitude camp (ended up known as billy-loadsa-mates).

Any other interest???????

Generally End of the Road would be pretty good anyway, it's small and chatty. The Bimble inn is especially good - every time I went in there I chatted to someone - and I'm generally pretty shy.

I've booked my ticket now :P I was being slightly indecisive because of going on my own - but then figured it sounds so good it has to be great anyway, and it's a brilliant chance to meet some new people... So I've taken a deep breath and booked! Excited and nervous and can't wait!

When I first went to Latitude on my own I was seriously kacking it!

This is the only forum I know of. We'll definitely put together a camp. At EOTR it'll be sooooo easy. I'm sure others will join us.

Easiest way is to exchange mobiles via personal messages closer to the time. I'm planning on being there as close to opening time as I can.....if my steward friend is needed on the thursday I'll get the chance to be there a day early!!!!!

Excellent, it really would be great if it did all come together with an efest camp - would settle quite a few of my nerves!

And I'm comforted to hear other are feeling similarly :(

Now I just have to figure out how I'm going to get there! :P Want to be there as early as possible but I'm not sure how early that is yet - it takes *forever* from here... Might be pop-up tent + train time! Actually - that would be hilarious - being surrounded by morning business people and me stood there in festival garb with a big orange tent :D I have to do that!

Does anyone know if they've sorted the shuttle bus from the train station yet? Or how far the station is from the festival site?

This is a long shot...

What do you think the odds are of the one and only Sufjan Stevens making an appearance at EOTR 2008? The reason I say this is that I have just this minute noticed that he sings on the Clare and the Reasons song "Nothing/Nowhere"...I know i'm dreaming but how cool would that be huh?

A secret mini gig by Sufjan at EOTR 2008...cross all appendages one and all :D
