Leeds Festival has succeeded in increasing its capacity for this year, with an extra 2,500 tickets to be made available for the Friday, and an extra 5,000 for each of the Saturday and Sunday.

This takes the capacity of Leeds Festival to 57,500 on Saturday and Sunday and 55,000 on Friday. The capacity of its sister event Reading Festival recently had it’s application approved to increase the site capacity to 60,500 on Saturday and Sunday and 55,000 on the Friday so that more music fans can enjoy these festivals.

Mean Fiddler MD, Melvin Benn said of the decision: "We are delighted that more music fans over the country can enjoy the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals and that both Leeds and Reading Councils have continued to support the live music events in the North and South of the country. It is fantastic news for the fans and now an additional 12,500 people in Leeds and the North of England and 11,000 people in Reading and the South of England get to see their favourite bands at the UK’s biggest selling festival."

The line-ups for both festivals include the headliners of Pixies, Foo Fighters, and Iron Maiden, along with The Killers, Kings of Leon, Marilyn Manson, Queens of the Stone Age, Razorlight, Incubus, and many more. For the full confirmed line-ups to date, click here for Reading and here for Leeds. Many more bands will be announced over the coming weeks, for a total of six stages.

Weekend tickets and day tickets for both Reading and Leeds festivals are sold out. Both festivals take place from Friday 26th until Sunday 28th August, with Reading festival at Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire, and Leeds festival at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
