Liverpool to get Fresh in January

2008 is Liverpool's ‘Capital of Culture’ year, and Fresh Festival ushers in that year from Thursday 3rd to Saturday 5th January.

Fresh Festival has a blast of new collaborations and music-making from the forefront of the contemporary scene across three days and several venues, all in the footprint of Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall, with a line-up of local, national and international artists who are are encouraged to forge new ground and create new work together, heralding a forward thinking and ‘fresh’ start to the new year.

The headline concerts are a one-off concert that sees jazz legend Wayne Shorter and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra work together for the first time, plus a never attempted improvising sound clash from The Bays and The Heritage Orchestra.

In addition to the two headline concerts, there's more activity to be found in the Rodewald Suite, the new smaller venue at the Philharmonic Hall, plus some of Liverpool’s music clubs and spaces such as Magnet and The Bumper. All the venues are situated within a few yards of each other on and around Hope Street.

Tickets are on sale, with a Festival pass (only £10) granting entry into all of the gigs apart from the two headline concerts, or if you buy a ticket for Wayne Shorter or The Bays / Heritage Orchestra you get to see the rest of the festival for free (events below marked with a * are FREE with the Fresh Festival Pass).
