Anyone wishing to buy a ticket for this year's Glastonbury Festival now has just one more week left to submit their registration. Registration for the 2008 Festival will stay open until midnight on Friday 14th March, with tickets for the Festival going on sale to those who have registered on Sunday 6th April.

Registration, involves filling in a simple form and supplying a passport photograph, and full details can be found at www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk. Forms are available on line or at any branch of Millets.

The organisers say that over the last 35 days, since registration began, the Festival's official registration site has seen a phenomenal level of registrations, with enquiries about registering coming in from as far afield as the remote Pacific island of Pitcairn (population 50).

The registration process was implemented in 2007 as a measure to stop the touting of Festival tickets. By preventing touting, the Festival is able to make sure tickets aren't sold at inflated prices, and that all the profits can be passed on to the Festival's associated charities. Festival organiser Michael Eavis says: "We still think this is the best and fairest way to make sure that the tickets go to people who actually want to come to the festival, rather than touts."

Please note that anyone who registered last year does need to register again this year. Festival goers can now tick a box to enable their registration for this year's event to also be eligible to buy tickets in 2009 and 2010. "We couldn’t do that last year because of data protection issues," said Eavis, "so unfortunately anyone who registered in 2007 will need to do so again this year."

If you've registered for Glastonbury, then why not enter the eFestivals' competition to win yourself a pair of tickets here!

It has also been confirmed that from the thousands of entries for this year's Glastonbury New Talent competition a final shortlist of 12 bands has been drawn up. The 12 finalists are Mankala, 28 Costumes, Andy Hickie & The Merry Maidens, Boys In A Band, Charlene Soraia, The Golden Silvers, Myth Of Unity, Revere, Rod Thomas, Swimming, The Franks, and Young Runaways.

All of the acts will perform a 20-minute set at a live final. The ultimate winner will then play either the Other stage or the Pyramid stage at this year's Festival.

To get the best idea of the acts you'll see over all the stages at the festival in June make sure you keep an eye on our Glastonbury 2008 rumours, which will build up into the most comprehensive list available anywhere before the full line-up announcement is made at the beginning of June.

Tickets for Glastonbury will go on sale on 6 April, either online or through a free phone call from a normal landline.

Glastonbury Festival 2008 will take place at Worthy Farm, Pilton, near Glastonbury, Somerset from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June, with the gates opening for early arrivals on Wednesday 25th June.
