Wild In The Country - CANCELLED 2008

Bjork has pulled out of her only UK festival appearance of 2008, a headline slot at Wild in the Country which takes place on Saturday July 5th 2008 at Knebworth Park, Stevenage, Hertfordshire claiming that organisers were unable to provide the stage requirements she needed.

The festival organisers have responded with an announcement on the event's website (here) with the following statement:

It was brought to our attention by nme.com that Bjork no longer intends to appear at the Wild in the Country festival. A letter confirming this was apparently emailed to Wild in the Country organiser Geoff Oakes outside normal business hours on the evening of Friday 27th June.

There have been what we believed to be still ongoing discussions regarding Bjork's production requirements.

We are obviously disappointed, having the utmost respect for Bjork as an artiste, and extend our best wishes to her.

Contrary to what has been suggested, we have diligently provided all production requirements for all of the other acts appearing on this years line-up.

The organisers have also confirmed that contrary to some reports both Battles, and Soulwax (the latter are curating a whole tent at the event) will still be appearing. For those that want a refund, vendors are (subject to terms and conditions) offering a refund to those who want one.

There is no news yet who will replace her as headliner at the 18 hour event, running from 1pm until 6am which has a line-up that includes Pendulum, Foals, Late of The Pier, Killa Kela, Metronomy, Booka Shade, Battles, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobious Pip, The Field, XX Teens, and Slagsmalsklubben, with many more to be announced.

The dance music line-up, with more names to come includes DJs such as Sasha, M.A.N.D.Y., James Zabiela, Annie Mac, Ame, Plump DJs, Norman Jay, Dixon, Audiofly, Inxec, Matt Tolfrey, Marcus James, Danny Tenaglia (UK festival exclusive), Richie Hawtin, 2ManyDJs, Faithless(Dj Set) plus Minus & Radio Soulwax arenas.

For the line-up details as available please click here.

Wild in the Country will have six marquee arenas and an outdoor main stage which will all play host to the most exciting and diverse collection of electronic artistes. As well as music revellers can enjoy an Anglo-centric Victorian fun fair; an enchanted wood; a wide variety of food stalls; performance artistes; the Twisted Tea Room and much more.

Tickets are priced at £54. To buy tickets click here.

The nearest rail station is Stevenage, two miles away. There is a taxi rank at the station. Non stop Inter-City (16 mins) and local services run to Stevenage from London Kings Cross Station around every 30 minutes.
