eFestivals can exclusively reveal more additions to the line-up for this year's Endorse-It In-Dorset Festival which happens from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August at Cranborne Chase, Dorset.
The latest acts added to the line-up are Guitar Slingers, The Novellos, The Uplifters, King Porter Stomp, The Lovely Brothers, The Spacewasters, Pye Shoppe, The Splitters, Hip Fandango, Henry's Phonograph, and Nephu Huzzband.
In addition there's also news of Belly Dancing Workshops, and Randy & Earl's Old Record Club, purveyors of the finest soul, rockabilly, country, jazz, blues, gospel and ska. They will be spinning tunes late into the night at The Wig-on Casino.
Endorse-It In-Dorset have also announced a line-up of DJs playing deep house, breaks, and minimal house over the weekend, they include Dave Hornby, Deep Blue, Doug Masters, James Hornby, and Minimal Groove. Plus The Rock & Roll Town Crier will be exposing his talents via the medium of compere and DJ'ing.
Endorse-it-in-Dorset has also announced its green policy for this year. Year on year the event has made commitments to reduce waste and chemical use, reduce oil use and transport miles, compost food waste and increase recycling.
Last year Endorse-it-in-Dorset recycled 20% of all the rubbish generated from the festival. This year they will be installing recycling bins around the site and the 'recyclitles' will be out and about recycling rubbish. The aim for 2008 is to recycle at least 25%, they hope festival goers will help achieve this and use the bins provided.
85% of the Endorse-it-in-Dorset caterers use recyclable crockery and plates and there are those who use bone china and wash up for reuse. Preference is given to local caterers and stallholders and 70% come from Dorset and Somerset. Next year there are plans to reduce the food and transport miles of the festival, and by 2010 the food on offer at the festival will be locally produced.
This year Endorse-it-in-Dorset will be monitoring transport miles of everyone involved in the festival. They will be finding out where each festival goer came from and how they got there. The ambition is to decrease the miles the festival is responsible for.
The event needs a lot of power to run the festival and although this year most of the energy required will come from diesel generators there are 8 solar powered stallholders. Next year they intend to use even less oil power and increase the use of solar, bio, and people power.
Can all festival goers please remember there is NO GLASS allowed on site. If glass is brought on site it will be disposed of at the main entrance and recycled.
If there is anyone with any ideas, thoughts, feedback, or would like to be involved in Endorsing Endorse-It In-Dorset's green credentials, then please email amanda@wble.co.uk
