On Thursday 7th August the Summer Sundae Fringe Festival returns with six official warm up parties to get festival goers arriving in Leicester in the mood for the Summer Sundae Weekender happening the next day.

The night's entertainment is hosted across the city centre, intended for early festival arrivals, is headlined by DJ Lisa Lashes, and features a line-up including Tired Irie, and The Dandilions. The pre-festival warm ups, curated by Pineapster, also consist of a selection of acts from the current Leicester music scene including The Chairmen, and The Elite.

2008's Fringe bill actually offers more artists in one night than the whole line-up on offer at the first Summer Sunday in 2001, with other artists confirmed to play including Neil Appeal, J-Luv, Glen Randall, Pacific Ocean Fire, Love Ends Disaster, The Parlotones, The Utopians, Ugly Pop Stars, The Legion, Greg Gent, and Herra Hidro.

There are also two family friendly venues on this year's circuit. The Richard Attenborough Centre will be presenting a free comedy programme featuring John Montague and The High Sierras. The Donkey on Welford Road offers families with children a programme of live music with M48, Project Notion, James Maddock, and Swaggar.

There are 1400 tickets available for the Official Warm-Up Parties priced at £3 available now from De Montfort Hall Box Office, Firebug and The Musician Pub, or over the phone on 0116 233 3111. Tickets will be exchanged for a wristband at each venue which allows access to all of the shows (subject to internal capacities). Ticket price includes an open-top festival bus service running every 15 minutes from 7pm to 11pm, it will pick up from Granville Road (Victoria Campsite) or Lancaster Road (Regent Campsite) and then the Fringe venues and then back again.
