Paul Weller has announced a series of gigs as part of The Forestry Commission's 2009 Forest Tours.
Since his early days in The Jam, then Style Council and subsequently as a hugely successful solo artist, Weller continues to make pioneering music. Last year saw the release of the critically acclaimed number one album '22 Dreams', his ninth solo album in a career spanning over three decades.
Weller will perform at the following forests on these dates:
Fri 5th June Thetford Forest, Near Brandon, Suffolk.
Fri 12th June Delamere Forest, Delamere, Cheshire.
Fri 19th June Sherwood Pines Forest Park, Near Edwinstowe, Notts.
Sat 20th June Westonbirt Arboretum, Near Tetbury, Glos.
Fri 26th June Cannock Chase Forest, Near Rugeley, Staffs.
Sat 27th June Dalby Forest, Near Pickering, N Yorks.
This will be a long-awaited return for his fans, having last played some forest dates in 2004 to capacity crowds.
The Forestry Commission is committed to taking woodlands to new audiences and making them relevant to people in new ways. The forest tour is self-sustaining, paying for itself, and providing valuable revenue to plough back into the woodland in a variety of environmental and social projects.
Tickets for these forest dates will be priced at £33, and go on sale on Friday 19th January. We'll have links to buy when on sale.
