Junior indie acoustic band The Majority have had a dream come true winning themselves a slot on the bill at this year's Isle of Wight Festival.

Theo Wiley, Matt East, Louis Fitton and Charlie King who are just 12 years old received a standing ovation performing a song they had written and showed an outstanding level of performance.

The annual 'Battle of the Bands' competition was held at Harrodian School, Barnes, in London yesterday. This year however, entrants had more play for with the winning band receiving a slot on the acoustic Bandstand at this year's Isle of Wight Festival which happens from Friday 12th until Sunday 14th June 2009 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.

Festival promoter John Giddings was the special guest judge at the school's competition and all the bands played their hearts out in the battle to win this once-in-a-lifetime top prize.

After the winning performance John Giddings said, "It was a tough decision as the bands were at a high standard but I had to choose between The Majority and The Other Guys and for me The Majority had something special. They were four years younger than The Other Guys and I made my decision on their song writing and stage presence. I look forward to seeing them play at the festival in June on the Isle of Wight."

Away from the main stage, the Platform One Bandstand offers unsigned acts and local bands, around 50 acts in all. The Majority are one of the youngest acts to ever appear at the festival.

The youthful band will join a line-up that includes Friday headliners The Prodigy, along with Basement Jaxx, Pendulum, and The Ting Tings who will all be appearing on the main stage. More of the line-up including acts for the Saturday and Sunday of the festival are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the festival are priced at £140 for an adult ticket with camping which includes entertainment in the campsite on Thursday night, and £70 for a child ticket (12 years and under). The price of an adult ticket without camping is £120 and £60 for children (12 years and under). A campervan permit is £250 (all occupiers must also have a valid Camping ticket).

All Special Needs customers should call Ticket Zone on 08705 321 321 to purchase tickets.
