The Charlatans have been announced as the Sunday headliners of the Big Top at this year's Isle of Wight Festival.

The Charlatans
Not only will the band headline the Big Top on Sunday 14th June, but they will also curate the entire day and will hand pick the artists and performances for the final day of the festival which happens from Friday 12th until Sunday 14th June 2009 at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight.

Lead singer Tim Burgess, said of the announcement, "I am proud to have been asked to curate the Big Top's line-up at this year's Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday the 14th June with The Charlatans headlining the tent. I have already approached quite a few impressive new bands (some you will know, some you might not). The Isle of Wight Festival is a special festival to me so all up and coming bands, be on the look out – you could be taking the stage at The Isle of Wight!"

After appearing on the bill for the reincarnation of the Festival in 2002, and again in 2004, The Charlatans join a line-up that includes Friday headliners The Prodigy, along with Basement Jaxx, Pendulum, and The Ting Tings who will all be appearing on the main stage. More of the line-up including acts for the Saturday and Sunday of the festival are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the festival are priced at £140 for an adult ticket with camping which includes entertainment in the campsite on Thursday night, and £70 for a child ticket (12 years and under). The price of an adult ticket without camping is £120 and £60 for children (12 years and under). A campervan permit is £250 (all occupiers must also have a valid Camping ticket).

All Special Needs customers should call Ticket Zone on 08705 321 321 to purchase tickets.
