Veteran space rockers Hawkwind will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a special performance at the Intergalactic themed Standon Calling.

Standon Calling which takes place from from Friday 31st July until Sunday 2nd August at Standon, Ware, Hertfordshire can also expect to see Stranger Than Paradise's CCCP Cosmonaut Training Centre, take part in an Intergalactic fancy dress competition, Rockaoke, or Beach Hut Karaoke, visit Salena Godden's Book Club Boutique tipi, take in the Skandalous! presented Intergalactic Red Light District, check out an Underwater Disco, Heritage Arts' Heliocentre live theatre experience, chat to Extra-terrestrial experts from CERN, or put themselves in for an Astrological Blind Date with an alien Cilla and more.

There are numerous stages and the odd unexpected stage appearing from nowhere. The festival boasts a number of bars, one of which is hewn out of an enormous oak tree, secret areas, interactive theatre, swimming pool (with underwater dance area), boutique camping (beach huts, yurts and tipis), kids area, and festival food.
The organiser are trying to make this festival as ethical and green as possible, recycling all and sundry and sourcing locally where possible and they are raising money for charity too.
