This year's Bloom festival has been cancelled, and Bloom ticket holders have a number of alternatives on offer to them.
The organisers have had to deal a number of obstacles this year including moving the site at very short notice some weeks ago and also difficult economic conditions. A statement from the festival organiser, Olivia Chapman, says,
"It's been an incredibly difficult decision for us to make, as Bloom is an independently run organisation, built from our very heart and souls. We have worked tirelessly for the best part of nine months on this event which makes it very hard for us to walk away from it. However we have to think of the bigger picture and feel that we are making the right decision."Bloom are currently offering a number of options for ticket holders, these are:
For those ticket holders that fancy a festival this weekend there's Beachdown Festival held on the South Downs, in East Sussex from Friday 28th until Monday 31st August. Beachdown Festival has invited Bloom to join them at the end of August. There is a ticket exchange scheme where upon presentation of a Bloom Festival ticket, ticket holders can pay an extra £22.50 to upgrade to a full Beachdown weekend ticket. There will also be a small Bloom presence. In order to register Bloom ticket holders are asked to email bloom@beachdownfestival.com including their full name, address and Bloom Festival ticket numbers.
This coming weekend's Big Chill have also offered Bloom ticket holders the opportunity to exchange tickets. Bloom ticket holders will be required to pay an extra £55 to trade up to a full Big Chill weekend ticket.
Alchemy Festival happening from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September is offering Bloom ticket holders tickets for their event at the early bird price of £50 - This offer is open until Sunday 16th August, email alchemy.festival@live.com for more details.
All Bloom 2009 ticket holders will automatically receive a ticket for Bloom 2010 with another one for FREE - even if ticket holders use their tickets to go to any of the festivals mentioned above. These will be printed and sent out in the next couple of weeks.
Bloom will also be holding a free Party at Motion club, in Bristol, on the festival weekend - Saturday 15th August for those who have booked the Bloom weekend for a big party. This will be free to all Bloom Festival ticket holders.
The line-up included Finley Quaye, James Yuill, Frankmusik, Scratch Perverts, Noah & The Whale, The Whip, Chase & Status, Dub Pistols, Tom Middleton, Just Jack, Filthy Dukes, Jack Beats, Alessi's Ark, and many more.
