More on this year's Comedy Tent line-up:
Milton Jones is, quite simply, the best one-line merchant in British comedy. His jokes are mostly one-liners involving puns, a relentless barrage of guffaw inducing gags. His Sony Award-winning show The Very World of Milton Jones (BBC Radio 4) has enjoyed three successful series to date and was also nominated for a British Comedy Award for Best Radio Series in 1998. Four episodes of Another Case of Milton Jones have just been commissioned and will be broadcast in November of this year. He has made numerous guest television appearances and starred as 'The Supervisor' in Sky 1's sitcom, The Strangerers.
Ian Cognito is one of the most invigorating and exciting stand-up comics you are ever likely to see. Outspoken, opinionated and wildly creative, his act is very clever, very funny and a joy to watch. With appearances at festivals around the world, a UK tour under his belt and headlining spots at top UK comedy venues, Cognito is also a writer and musician.
Trevor Crook is a stunningly funny deadpan comedian with attitude, Australian born he spends half the year in the UK moaning about the weather, but with such brilliantly dry humour we Brits have taken him to our hearts. Through our long winter months he travels extensively and is the first Aussie comic to have performed in the Arctic Circle. His UK TV credits include Live at Jongleurs (four series) and the Stand Up Show (BBC1).
James Sherwood is a likeable geek who offers a series of deadpan ditties peppered with extremely funny between-the-songs banter. Musical comedy is all the rage again thanks to Tim Minchin and the Conchords, and accompanied by his bulky keyboard, this Radio 4 regular Sherwood picks apart existing songs with hilarious pedantry and strong topical material.
Pat Gallagher is a west country based comedian married with four children, one of each, (take it you have not been to the West country). His innocent / confused persona belies his intelligent & clever wordplay, and Pat was Winner of the best English act at the 2005 Welsh comedy awards. Pat says: "I don't do this to show off, I do this because I want to be the Messiah. At the moment I'm half way there, I'm a mess."
Jim Grant is friendly, funny and engaging, for 10 years he has been warmly received by every type of audience. As well as headlining notable comedy clubs, Jim has played festivals, tv shows, art centres, working mens clubs, student unions, weddings and even 1 funeral.
David Whitney offers GuilFest comedy fans a well-defined sense of comedy which guarantees laughs.
Paul B Edwards comperes Friday daytime show, with a genial combination of jokes, songs and poetry. The self styled 'Rock & Roll Poet and comedian is a Jongleurs regular (both sets and mc) and is in demand at student gigs and festivals. His quirky style, genial delivery and well crafted gags are sure to get the tent laughing.
Simon Clayton comperes Friday late show. The North Londoner's subject matter is simple - it involves being fat, mixed race, married, balding - because that is what he is - and anything else that currently makes him laugh. Although not necessarily in that order. A popular performer up and down the country, and this charming ability to poke fun at himself whilst being extremely funny ensure he is extremely busy!
Ivan Brackenbury's Hospital Roadshow - your friend and mine Ivan Brackenbury is Brimlington General Hospital's flagship radio presenter. The self named 'Cheerful Earful' is also the self proclaimed saviour of Hospital Radio will broadcast live back to the patients from GuilFest 2010. Presenting his regular request and chat show 'Disease-Hour' each and ever day to the ill and captures the fun and excitement you'd expect from being in hospital with games, giveaways, patients' requests and Ivan's special blend of music and chat.
Abandoman create hilarious musical sketches at lightning speed live in front of their audience. No two gigs are ever the same with frontman Rob Broderick and multi-instrumentalist James Hancox reinventing hip hop in a way that is mind-blowingly funny and musically brilliant. The group are the fastest rising new stars on the comedy scene. They have a weekly residency with BBC6's Chris Hawkins Breakfast Show, have supported diverse acts such as Tommy Tiernan and US hip hop band, Atmosphere, and have played festivals such as Bestival on the Isle of White and Truck Festival in Oxford.
Steve Gribbin describes himself as "a musical comic/ stand-up comedian/singer-songwriter/voice-over artist/writer/actor/part-time A4 stationery sniffer and Lifelong President Of The National Union of Mithering Shortarse Satirical Songsmiths. But don't pigeonhole me." And this fast talking, fast singing comedy leftie definitely cant be pigeonholed!
Sean Percival is a headline act and a regular at all the UK's top comedy venues, including Jongleurs and the Comedy store. He performs at the Edinburgh, Glastonbury and Reading Festivals and is currently script-writing for Capital Radio Group.
Philberto has flashes of mad comic genius in this character from English comedian Milo McCabe, AKA Philberto, who underwent a dramatic rise in fame from man on the street to Portugal's No 1 reality TV star.
Ray Green is the alter ego of up and coming Lancashire comic Dave Gibson. Winner of various New Act awards, compere, Film and TV writer, his live Edinburgh show 'Wanchorman: Adventures In Telly Land' was a sell out and his viral and podcast work have won him critical acclaim. As well as TV credits ranging from Channel 4's T4 to music video's for bands such as The Futureheads, Dave is a regular guest on Talk Sports Sunday Night review show and he tells us he's recently been hobnobbing in Florida with his film work.
Jane Hill is an up and coming comic whose sharp, intelligent observational comedy is charming, but with a real twist in the tail. Her jaundiced views on love, life and relationships strike a chord with audiences of all ages. With 2 Edinburgh Fringe's under her belt, Jane was also English Comedian of the Year Finalist in 2009.
Danny Buckler comperes Saturday daytime show. Danny has a unique 'Tony Hancock-esque" style, genuinely different and hysterically funny. He started as a magician but his quirky style soon led him to the comedy clubs where he is now an established and popular act and regular host for the Jongleurs Comedy Clubs. As a stand up comic he has entertained the troops in Bosnia, Belfast, The Falkland Islands and Diego Garcia and supported Victoria Wood on tour.
Windsor comperes Saturday late show. As one of the most sought-after comperes on the circuit today and having performed all over the world, Windsor is a first class act with a wealth of hilarious gags and stories. He has a natural charm and warmth, and will create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere in any room from the smallest gig to the Glastonbury Big Top.
John Maloney has become a highly sought after comic and musician John is one of the UK's top stand-up comics. He has appeared on TV's 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks', Have I got News For You and The Comedy Store Live and has been nominated for the Best Live Performer award for 2 years running at The London Comedy Festival. He was nominated as 'Best Live Stand-Up' at the British Comedy Awards and has just returned from a sell out run at the prestigious Melbourne Comedy Festival
Barry Castagnola is not only a comedian, but an actor and writer who has firmly established himself as an accomplished comic performer.Described as witty, whacky and creative, he has been performing stand-up in the UK and internationally for over 10 years since blagging his way on stage at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
George Egg, a GuilFest favourite, has been a professional stand-up comedian, actor and writer for the last ten years. He has an extremely successful solo show with which he has toured in Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Spain, France and extensively in the United Kingdom, both on the stage and on the television.
Dan Evens has for over a decade been gladdening Stand Up Comedy audiences across the UK and Ireland with his twisted logic. He's also performed his accessible but frequently childish surrealism in front of chubby perspiring ex-pats in Dubai and Oman, and had his grammar rectified by politer crowds in Germany and Holland. TV and Radio work includes BBC 2's Brain Candy, Channel 5 at The Store, The Channel 5 Comedy Zone, Radio 2 Stand Up Show and 28 acts in 28 minutes on Radio 4. Writing credits including the Sony Award winning Very World of Milton Jones, Rory Bremner Who Else? The Eleven O'Clock Show and The Joan River's Position.
Danny Ward only took to stand-up last year, but he's already a star in the making. He won the Comedy Store King Gong show in March, reached the finals of the Amused Moose Laugh Off competition and the semi-finals of the So You Think You're Funny awards. Danny's comedy draws from observations of just about anything - from strangers on the street to the aisles of Lidl!
Jason Canning's comedy has made him a star in the States with a wide appeal that can only be described as what would happen if you crossed Jim Carrey with Hugh Grant - hilarious and polite! He was known as face of the Paramount Comedy Channel with appearances on Disney Channel and The Royal Albert Hall before he moved to LA.
Caroline Mabey's stand-up combines eccentric charm and mischievous banter with strong gags. She is an experienced compere and is resident MC at the 99 Club in London. Her first solo show 'Caroline Mabey's Go Go Go Coffee Show!' was a big hit at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009, and featured her animated side-kick/ love interest, Kip the coffee pot. Caroline is an accomplished character and sketch comedian, frequently MCing as her grotesque creation Helen Heels, Landlady to the Stars.
The Brothers Streep with songs about evil pirate captains, the global economy crisis, movie spoilers and scrunchy-faced celebrities, Dylan and Simon deliver a session of comedy and music. From their humble beginnings in South Africa four years ago, the Brothers Streep managed to stumble into the spotlight last year when they appeared on the Graham Norton Show playing to Anna Paquin. This year the comedic duo thought it was time to share some more of their songs with the world. Or at the very least, with the UK. GuilFest has managed to nab them before they head to the Edinburgh Festival with their strange brand of musical comedy.
Simon Fox comperes the Sunday show. Fox is one of the UK's best loved live comedians. With sharp material and even sharper audience banter, he is a favourite at Jongleurs and a regular on Radio and TV, including Weekending, Ready Steady Cook and the Jonathon Ross Show.
Line up subject to change.
