Glasgow duo Slam have been announced as Saturday night headliners on the second stage at this year's Wizard two day music and arts festival in the North East.
The first act in its line up of DJs that will perform are Slam who will headline Wizard's second stage on Saturday. Scottish DJs Slam will play Wizard following a headline set at T in the Park. Made up of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle the pair are talented producers who also manage their own record label called Soma.
Wizard festival organisers have also announced that they have arranged for a series of buses to run from Aberdeen and other regions around Scotland to make it easier for fans to travel to and from the festival. For the first time Happy Bus will be running coaches from Aberdeen each day and returning to the city each evening. There will also be weekend buses available for fans that travel from further afield to enjoy the entire Wizard weekend. Buses will leave from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Dundee, Dunfermline, Peterhead, Mintlaw and Ellon.
Roy Thain, Wizard Festival director said, "Adding DJs to our line-up brings a whole new dimension to the festival. Last year the DJ stage was really well received by festival fans that came to Wizard so there was no doubt that we needed to bring it back this year. It gives the event more scope to promote artists of all music genres and gives DJs as well as bands and solo artists a platform to highlight their talents. We will be adding lots more DJ acts in the coming weeks and expect fans to be really pleased with the result of our partnership with Snafu.
"Making Wizard more accessible to fans has been a top priority for us as we have grown so the addition of regular busses from Aberdeen and the rest of Scotland will make it easier for fans to come along.."
They join a line-up over the weekend of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August 2010 that includes Saturday headliners Happy Mondays plus Alabama 3, Complete Stone Roses and Peatbog Faeries, who have already been confirmed to play at the event.
Now in its fourth year, Wizard, takes place at the New Deer Show Ground near Peterhead and Fraserburgh, North East Scotland and attracts music fans from across Scotland and more than 4,000 people attended last year's event.
A family friendly event, Wizard also runs a full two day children's programme and has a dedicated arena, Wee Wizards, where families and young people can get involved in creative and musical activities and workshops.
Made up of three stages, over 50 acts will appear at Wizard across two days in August. Held in the beautiful setting of the New Deer Showground, approximately 30 miles from Aberdeen, last year it added a full line up of DJs as well as local acts and arena performers to its bill.
Tickets are on sale priced at £70 for an adult weekend ticket (includes camping & parking from 1pm Fri to noon Sun) or £45 for a Saturday adult day ticket (includes camping & parking Saturday only), a campervan/caravan ticket is priced at £20. Children 12 years old and under go free.
