Scottish singer-songwriter Sandi Thom leads the latest acts announced for this year's Wizard two day music and arts festival in the North East.

Sandi Thom
Local lass Sandi Thom will be performing on Wizard's main stage. Thom, born and raised less than 20 miles from where the festival is held, will be showcasing her new blues album 'Merchants and Thieves' to local fans for the first time at Wizard.

She will be joined on the main stage line-up by festival favourites Proud Mary who will be showcasing their third album, 'Ocean Park', as an exclusive preview with some of the band flying in from Los Angeles especially for this.

Also confirmed for the Wizard main stage are The Dykeenies, Kid British, and The Dangleberries.

Also confirmed to play the festival's second stage, the Banshee stage, are Hip Parade, The Draymin, and Root System.

Roy Thain, Wizard Festival director said, "We have added loads more top quality acts to the programme and many of them will be performing at Wizard for the first time so that is always very exciting. We think that we have put out our strongest line up ever this year and we are delighted that so many great bands are really keen to perform to festival fans in the North-East. One of the things that we are really passionate about is supporting up and coming acts form north of the border and so we have made a real effort to book as many young breaking Scottish acts as possible. Making the bill varied with lots of different genres of music opens the event up to as many fans as possible and we are convinced that this year's line-up will attract music fans from across the UK and beyond."

They join a line-up over the weekend of Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August 2010 that includes Saturday headliners Happy Mondays plus Alabama 3, Complete Stone Roses and Peatbog Faeries, who have already been confirmed to play at the event.

Now in its fourth year, Wizard, takes place at the New Deer Show Ground near Peterhead and Fraserburgh, North East Scotland and attracts music fans from across Scotland and more than 4,000 people attended last year's event.

A family friendly event, Wizard also runs a full two day children's programme and has a dedicated arena, Wee Wizards, where families and young people can get involved in creative and musical activities and workshops.

Made up of three stages, over 50 acts will appear at Wizard across two days in August. Held in the beautiful setting of the New Deer Showground, approximately 30 miles from Aberdeen, last year it added a full line up of DJ’s as well as local acts and arena performers to its bill.

Tickets are on sale priced at £70 for an adult weekend ticket (includes camping & parking from 1pm Fri to noon Sun) or £45 for a Saturday adult day ticket (includes camping & parking Saturday only), a campervan/caravan ticket is priced at £20. Children 12 years old and under go free.
