Glastonbury Festival have revealed more details for those arriving tomorrow by car at Glastonbury Festival as well as reminding everyone to please tidy up their campsite when they leave.
For the first time this year, the Festival car parks will be opening at 9pm on the Tuesday night before the Festival. This is to enable Festival-goers to arrive away from the peak traffic times, thus easing congestion on the roads around the site. Those thinking of coming tomorrow night, should be aware of the following:
- Between 12am and 5am on Wednesday morning is likely to be the quietest time to arrive (but please do not drive when you're tired).
- Do not arrive too early in the car parks as it will be a long night sleeping in your car and the main site will NOT be open until 8am on Wednesday.
- There will be NO entertainment, food or facilities provided (apart from toilets) on Tuesday night. The expectation is that those arriving on Tuesday night will stay in their cars and take the chance to get some rest before the Festival gates open at 8am on Wednesday.
- If you are planning to arrive on Tuesday night / early Wednesday morning please bring enough food and water to see you through to when the gates open.
- If you choose to come and sleep in your car on the Tuesday night, you must be prepared to stay in your car, as due to the Festival's traffic plan any exit from the site will be very difficult
- There will no drop-off facilities or pedestrian access on Tuesday night. Nor will public transport services be running. And there will be no access for pedestrians between the car parks and campervan fields.
- Absolutely no camping will be allowed on Tuesday night.
- There will be no barbecues, fires or cooking allowed in the car parks.
- Please be considerate to other early arrivers and the Festival's neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum and staying inside your car.
- There will be no baby changing facilities or other facilities for children, and we would strongly advise families with young children NOT to arrive on Tuesday night.
- Please use the bins provided for any rubbish.
- If you don't already have a car park ticket, they will be available on the gates, costing £20.
As with the car parks, the campervan/caravan fields will also be opening slightly earlier this year, with access available from the Tuesday afternoon. However, the Festival site itself will still not open until 8am on Wednesday morning.
Please Take It Home
Please Take It Home is the Festival's new campaign to raise awareness of the terrible state that the festival site at Worthy Farm is left in when everyone goes home after the Festival. Abandoned camping equipment and rubbish blight the green pastures of the farm. The Festival are asking Festival goers to please do their bit when they leave, and take all their camping gear home and put all their rubbish in the bin bags provided by the campsite stewards. Even just five minutes of effort from each person at the Festival would make a HUGE difference.
The Festival organisers have also made a video using the winning limerick from eFestivals competition earlier in the year to highlight the problem. Here is the video:
Gorillaz, Muse, and Stevie Wonder headline a bill which also includes Dizzee Rascal, Vampire Weekend, Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, Orbital, Shakira, Pet Shop Boys, Scissor Sisters, Seasick Steve, Jackson Browne, Faithless, Jack Johnson, Ray Davies, Slash, The Flaming Lips, Hot Chip, Florence And The Machine, and many, many more.

The SOLD OUT event will mark the 40th anniversary of the Music and Arts Festival at Worthy Farm, Somerset, where Michael Eavis first opened his gates for business in September 1970. Glastonbury Festival runs for five full days from Wednesday 23rd until Sunday 27th June 2010 across over a 1,000 acres of beautiful countryside.
eFestivals' Glastonbury World Cup 2010 in support of WaterAid
Once again this summer players, mainly members of the eFestivals forums, are coming together to be part of the England vs The Rest Of The World football match, which which will also be raising funds for WaterAid on Thursday 24th June at the Festival.Michael Eavis has challenged us to raise £6000 (a target we've already surpassed) for WaterAid and thus provide enough money to provide the cost of building three water wells. You'll be drinking loads of water at the festival, so why not treat someone else less fortunate than yourself, to the the chance to drink clean water as well.
The event on Thursday 24th June begins at 1pm at the Pyramid Stage field with prematch entertainment from Hobo Jones & the Junkyard Dogs who will be doing a 40 minute set with the World Cup match starting after that. Festival organiser Michael Eavis will present the trophy to the winning team at around 4pm.
In conjunction with eFestivals, the Endorse it in Dorset Festival will be providing the half time entertainment for the WaterAid World Cup. Endorse it is already supports several charities and is proud to be able to help out in this Water Aid fundraiser.
To this end they are forming The Endorse it supergroup Wronghorn, featuring members of the following bands - top punk band P.N.U.K., ska supergroup Guns of Navarone, mighty hoedowners The The Boot Hill All Stars & kings of cowpunk Pronghorn. There may even be a certain punk poet/musician joining the throng...
