Michael Eavis has revealed that next year's Glastonbury Festival Sunday headliner is an American act that festival organiser has been after for ages.

The farmer and Festival organiser was talking about how important the Festival is for Somerset and the country's economy on Heart West Country Radio, here, when he revealed that one of the headline acts is American and an act he's been after them to play the event for some time.

Talking of the Festival headliners he again confirms that two are already booked, before adding, "There's an American artist that I've been wanting for years and yonks, and yonks, but I really can't tell you who it is... I'm so thrilled about it. Sunday night headliner."

The obvious guess would be Madonna, but as is usual with headlining acts, nothing is certain until the names are announced. Glastonbury Festival 2011 are not yet on sale, and the prices have not yet been confirmed. Tickets are expected to go on sale sometime in early October. We'll bring you the details once they are confirmed.

Those who registered in 2008 need to re-register as the details were only kept for two years. Those who registered in 2009 or 2010 were offered the chance to save their details - if you did so, your existing registration number is still valid. If you did not opt to have your details saved, then you will need to register again this year.

If you want to check what your registration number is, or when your registration is valid until, click here.

Ticket purchasing will require each buyer to input their name and their unique valid registration number for each ticket they purchase.
