Slipknot are the first act to be announced for next summer's Sonisphere at Hertfordshire's Knebworth House.
Slipknot bring their famously chaotic live show to Knebworth for the first time. The summer dates mark their first without founding member, Paul Gray who tragically passed away earlier this year.
Slipknot said, "We're looking forward to spending our summer in Europe. This tour is about us and our fans. It's about celebrating the life of our brother, Paul and his legacy. The door is neither open nor closed. This tour is about burning down that door. See you this summer."
Sonisphere have unveiled their headliner early with the announcement festival organisers had promised of more acts for next year announced this coming Monday (6th December) as planned.
Weekend tickets will go on sale next week and eFestivals will have links for you to buy them then.
Sonisphere takes place at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire from Friday 8th until Sunday 11th July 2011.
The event has one main arena with a stage at either end of the site, as well as a few smaller stages. The two main outdoor stages, will have around a dozen acts alternating between one stage and another to keep the music continuous, whilst not having two acts playing at the same time.
Next year Sonisphere will once again go on the road, touring Europe, visiting countries throughout Europe including Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy (new), Poland, Finland, Bulgaria, Spain, Sweden, Greece, Turkey, France (new), although there is no visit to Romania announced.
