Bill Bailey has been confirmed as headliner of the Saturn stage at Sonisphere appearing just before Slipknot headline the main stage on the Sunday.
Bailey's appearance will be the first ever outdoor comedy set at the festival, and the largest live comedy performance ever to be hosted at a Rock festival in the UK.
This year, the comedy element at Sonisphere has expanded its comedy offerings with an extra day seeing Bohemia now host comedy from the Thursday through to Sunday. Making his debut UK stand-up performance where he will headline the comedy line-up in Bohemia is Jackass' Steve-O, and also making is debut is American stand-up comedian, and close friend of Metallica Jim Breuer.
Other comedians announced today include Andrew O'Neill, Bob Slayer, Jason John Whitehead, and Jason Rouse, with Kiwi comedian Jarred Christmas returning to Sonisphere to compere the comedy on Saturday.
The Big 4 - Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth & Anthrax headline Friday night, Biffy Clyro Saturday and Slipknot Sunday. Other acts confirmed are Limp Bizkit, The Sisters of Mercy, You Me At Six, Sum 41, House of Pain, All Time Low, Fozzy, The Mars Volta, Opeth, Killing Joke, F Kids in Glass Houses, Gallows, Diamond Head, Motorhead, Mastodon, In Flames, Parkway Drive, Volbeat, Gojira, InMe, Protest The Hero, Four Year Strong, The Black Dahlia Murder, Black Tide, Watain, Firewind, Rise To Remain, and more, with many more acts still to be confirmed. Sonisphere takes place at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire from Friday 8th until Sunday 11th July 2011.
The event has one main arena with a stage at either end of the site, as well as a few smaller stages. The two main outdoor stages, will have around a dozen acts alternating between one stage and another to keep the music continuous, whilst not having two acts playing at the same time.
