Rhythm Festival announces Pretty Things

Still featuring original members Phil May and founding Rolling Stone Dick May, Sixties pioneers, Pretty Things, have been announced for Rhythm Festival held over the August bank holiday weekend at Mansion House, Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade, in Bedfordshire.

The band who are confirmed to appear on Sunday were at the forefront of the British R&B Scene with The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones but never hit the level of those other acts.

Also announced for the family-friendly Bedfordshire weekend music festival are Saint Jude led by soul-rock diva Lynne Jackaman, they will perform on Sunday.

On Saturday the Tracie Hunter Band, now featuring Blues guitar hero Todd Sharpville, will perform the rock groove at Rhythm.

Rhythm Festival has also announced that a new stage, programmed by Samantha Jean Scuffham of London's Secret Showcase, will be presenting young up-and-coming acts from around the world. The full line-up of the Secret Showcase Stage will be announced shortly.

They join headliners Toots & The Maytals, Imelda May, singer/songwriter Nick Lowe, Stax songwriter and guitarist Steve Cropper (Otis Redding, Booker T & the MG's, Blues Brothers), Cream bassist, songwriter and vocalist Jack Bruce, punk legends Buzzcocks, Dodgy, The Blockheads and comedy legend Mark Steel. Many more acts will be announced over all stages in coming weeks for Rhythm which takes place at the Mansion House, Old Warden Park, near Biggleswade, in Bedfordshire from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August 2011.

In other news, Rhythm have teamed up with Festival Coaches to offer a low carbon alternative to the car - coaches and shuttles. It's hoped the green initiative will reduce the festival's emissions (it's a whopping reduction of around 67% on emissions). Festival goers should pre-book for shuttles to ensure they have a seat, with pay on the day offered for remaining unsold seats on a first come first served basis. Shuttle services will run from Biggleswade Railway Station on Friday 26th and Monday 29th August.

There is also a direct to site coach service running from London Paddington - adult (17+) fare £33.00 return, kids fare (5-16) £15.00, kids under 5 travel free.

Early bird adult weekend saver tickets are priced at £99, (£110 from 1st July). Weekend tickets do NOT include camping.
Infants (under 5 years) are free when accompanied by adult ticket-holders.
One child (5-16 years) is free with each adult ticketholder; additional child tickets are available priced at £50. Day tickets are now on sale priced at £45 (Friday) and £49 (Saturday and Sundfay, each day) for an adult (17 years and older), with the option of a free child/ youth ticket (aged 5-16) when bought at the same time. Under 5s are free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult - no ticket required.

Camping tickets charged per tent/ caravan (not per person) are priced at £30 (Buena Vista Field a quieter, family-centred site) or £35 (Vegas Field nearer the Main Arena), Campervan tickets are priced at £30 (Buena Vista Field) or £35 (Vegas Field). There are also yurts and belltents available to hire.
