Isle of Wight Festival has moved into the fallow Glastonbury Festival weekend. The dates for the eleventh Isle of Wight Festival have been announced as from Friday 22nd until Sunday 24th June 2012. Presale starts on 30 September with 2011 prices and a staged payment plan.

John Giddings, festival organiser, explained that he had moved the event because of the possibility of ferry congestion to the event because half term was a week later due to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. For one year only the Festival is moving from its usual weekend, Giddings said, "We have been advised by the ferry companies that to run the same week as half term and the Jubilee would be problematic for our audience and production infrastructure. We have therefore taken the executive decision to move, for one year only, to 22/23/24th June 2012 to ensure a smooth journey for everyone and to get the entire infrastructure on and off the island."

It has also been revealed on Facebook that there will be a number of changes to the layout of the site, in response to issues raised by festival-goers. Organisers have said the campsite will be expanded to create more room — although no more camping tickets will be sold — and there will be changes to the main arena and Strawberry Fields, to create more room, an improved view of the stage and better sound. Openings between fields will be widened and there will be more toilets.

The festival now in it's eleventh year, takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight with a larger capacity this year of 90,000. The festival has a large main stage in a natural amphitheatre that showcases well known rock and indie names, a legendary act or two, and rising stars, in a relaxed festival atmosphere. There are no acts confirmed yet for 2012.

Organiser have also announced a two week long presale will start on Friday 30th September at 12 noon and for the first time the Festival is offering a staged payment plan for tickets purchased during the presale period only, at 2011 prices. Wightlink and Red Funnel will be selling ticket and ferry packages from the 30th September. Last year tickets for the festival sold out.

That means tickets will be priced at £175 for adult camping, and £87.50 for a child ticket (aged 7 to 12 years). The price of an adult ticket without camping will be £150 and £75 for children (aged 7 to 12 years). All children 6 years old and under on 22nd June 2012 can go for free but must still have a ticket. A campervan permit will be priced at £90 (all occupiers must also have a valid Camping ticket)

Every person attending the festival must purchase a ticket. This includes babes in arms.

All Special Needs customers should call Ticket Zone on 0844 499 9955 to purchase tickets. If you are registered disabled your carer is entitled to a free ticket, you need to make Ticket Zone aware of this when you make your purchase.

Away from the Main Stage, is the Big Top, the Acoustic Stage, and the Platform One Bandstand offering unsigned acts and local bands, around 50 acts in all.
