The rockers last appeared at the Festival as special guests in 2009 playing on Saturday's sunset slot before headliner Bruce Springsteen. In an interview where they discuss their summer plans for 2012 which won't include Glastonbury Festival, as the Festival is having a year off, they reveal how much they would like to return to the festival as headliners in the future.

Singer Tom Meighan says "It would have been brilliant to play Glastonbury but all we need is a phone call from Michael Eavis and we'll be there for 2013."

The Leicester band's guitarist Sergio Pizzorno adds, "One thing I really want to do before all this ends is to headline Glastonbury as we've always had an incredible time playing there. Hopefully it'll happen.

"The one thing you need to pull off a good Glastonbury headline show is f***ing good tunes and we've got enough of them to do that."

Listeners of the station choose from a list of 21 acts who performed at festivals including Glastonbury, T In The Park, Latitude, Reading and Leeds, V Festival, The Big Chill, Isle of Wight, and Bestival, the Saturday night Glastonbury headliners came out top.

With their continuing rise in popularity, they have to be one of the stronger possibilities to be one of the headliners in 2013.

Glastonbury Festival takes a year out in 2012 and returns in 2013 and will take place from Wednesday 26th until Sunday 30th June 2013. Registration for Glastonbury Festival 2013 is now open. Everyone who plans to the come the Festival must register, and that includes children aged 13, 14 and 15. Each ticket sold will feature a photograph of the person in whose name it is registered and will be non-transferable. So if you plan to buy tickets for friends or family you must make sure they all register!

Registration does not reserve or guarantee you a ticket when they go on sale some time in 2012, exact date to be confirmed, but if you don't register you will not be able to buy a weekend ticket for Glastonbury Festival 2013. If you opt to save this information you will be able to use your registration number again in future years. Make sure the e-mail address you provide is one to which you will have long term access.
