Van Halen cancel Download in 2012

Van Halen have shelved plans for their European tour which included an appearance at the 10th anniversary of Download at Donington Park over the weekend of Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2012.

Melodic Rock online, (here) are reporting that that the vintage American hard rockers have cancelled their planned 2012 Summer Tour of Europe before the dates were even announced. The dates include what would have been an appearance at Download on the Sunday of the festival.

The article reveals that, "because planning was so far along for the tour - the dates and venues were already locked in. There has been no reason given to promoters for the cancellation. Simply that it was not going to go ahead."

There are no acts confirmed yet for 2012. A limited amount of Early Bird tickets are currently on sale. Weekend arena tickets with 3 nights camping will be priced at £170, a five nights camping weekend ticket will be priced at £180 and offers access to the Download camp site from midday Wednesday June 6th 2012, and a weekend only ticket without camping is priced at £145. Day tickets are priced at £75 per day. Lockers, car parking, campervan supplements, and VIP packages are also available.

NB: Under 5's will not be admitted on site.

Kids aged 5-12 will be eligible for concession rate tickets for Download 2012. These can be purchased on the day from the on-site Box Office and availability of these will be unlimited.
