As predicted Metallica will headline the 10th anniversary of Download at Donington Park over the weekend of Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2012.

Metallica
Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo will be playing their fifth studio album - the untitled 'Black Album' in it's entirety as Saturday night Download headliners in seven months time. The album features the tracks six hit singles including 'Enter Sandman', 'Don't Tread on Me', 'The Unforgiven', 'Nothing Else Matters', 'Wherever I May Roam', and 'Sad but True'.

Metallica have headlined Download twice before in 2006, and 2004. Drummer Lars said on the Zane Lowe show on Radio 1, "We have not been to the hallowed grounds of Donington since 2006, and we are so looking forward to coming back. Donington is a sacred place for us to play... for me coming back there it's very special."

There are no other acts confirmed yet for 2012. Tickets are not currently on sale. A limited amount of Early Bird tickets went on sale last July. They were priced at £170, or £180 with access to the Download camp site from midday Wednesday, a weekend only ticket without camping was priced at £145. Day tickets were priced at £75 per day. Lockers, car parking, campervan supplements, and VIP packages were also available.
