Pearl Jam to headline Isle of Wight 2012

Grunge icons Pearl Jam have announced that they will be the final headliner to be revealed for next summer's Isle of Wight Festival as a UK Festival exclusive, more acts will be announced for the festival tomorrow.

Pearl Jam have announced on their website (here) that they will rock the stage on the Saturday night of the three-day concert festival to celebrate their twenty-first year. Formed in Seattle, they found worldwide fame with their debut album 'Ten' which included the singles 'Alive"', 'Even Flow', and 'Jeremy' and went on to become the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s.

This year the band released a new live compilation album, 'Live on Ten Legs', had Cameron Crowe release a film about them, 'Pearl Jam Twenty', and have been on tour in Canada, South and Central America, and Mexico.

They have also announced Wednesday 20th June at Manchester's MEN Arena, Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam on Tuesdsay 26th June, Belgium's Rock Werchter Festival on Friday 29th June, France's Main Square Festival on Saturday 30th June, O2 Arena Berlin, Germany on Wednesday 4th July, Ericsson Globe Arena in Sweden on Saturday 7th July, Spektrum in Oslo, Norway on Monday 9th July, and The Forum in Copenhagen, Denmark on Tuesday 10th July.

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers headline the first night, and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will headline the Sunday, with Elbow, Biffy Clyro, Noel Gallagher, Example, Noah & The Whale, Vaccines, Madness, and The Christians also confirmed. The festival has moved into the fallow Glastonbury Festival weekend for one year only. The dates for the eleventh Isle of Wight Festival have been announced as from Friday 22nd until Sunday 24th June 2012.

The festival now in it's eleventh year, takes place at Seaclose Park, Newport, Isle of Wight There are no other acts confirmed yet for 2012.

Tickets are on sale priced at £190 for adult camping, and £95 for a child ticket (aged 7 to 12 years). The price of an adult ticket without camping will be £160 and £80 for children (aged 7 to 12 years). All children 6 years old and under on 22nd June 2012 can go for free but must still have a ticket. A campervan permit will be priced at £100 (all occupiers must also have a valid Camping ticket). Every person attending the festival must purchase a ticket. This includes babes in arms.
