The festival is offering the chance for Boomtowners to create their own neighbourhood in the suburban campsite districts. Each 'hood will have its own theme, provide a service and create a space for the greater community. These could include a workshop, activity or a crazy interactive invention. The best 'hood will win a prize. Only the best ideas will be given the go ahead for more details please visit the website.

Boomtown has also launched the Boomfactor competition for emerging talent offering the winner a chance to perform on the Main Stage at the festival, with runners up performing on one of the smaller stages. Entry is free; simply send an MP3 of one song (under 4 mins) to boomfactor@boomtownfair.co.uk by Christmas Eve 2011. A shortlist will then be put to the public vote, before competing in heats, and a battle of the bands style final.

Boomtown is also running a 'Create Your Own Headliners' competition. Whoever suggests the headlining act will go in to a draw and one winner will be plucked from random to win a pair of residency passes to the town and also the opportunity to meet the artist backstage and have a photo taken. See their website for details. The headliners will be announced on Wednesday 1st February.

Finally Boomtown will be launching their own Boomtown Charity Christmas Album. Due for release via their online store from Friday 9th December, the album features tracks from Boomtown's favourite acts including Babyhead, Gypsy Unit, First Degree Burns and Smerin's Anti Social Club with all proceeds going to charity.

BoomTown offers a weekend of cabaret, gypsy, folk, reggae, dub and more within the confines of a whole 'pop up' town. Organisers have revealed that next year the site layout is having a complete overhaul and everything is being upgraded, adapted and expanded. Although the city walls are expanding the actual town population will stay at 13,000.
